Ball: 3 3/4 pin x 3 3/4 CG, pin is 2.5 inches above midline, the ball has the box finish
Lane Conditions: various....but only used on wood lanes so far
Line: This was various as well. On the heavier of the conditions I used it on I stood with my feet on 18, played dead straight up between 8 and 6 boards.
Reaction: I went to the Slash when the Xception would not turn the corner. The Slash picks up its roll sooner than the Xception with a much more controlled backend. Smooth reaction through out the lane.
Impact: This ball hits well. It pushes the pins straight back when it gets to the pin deck. I prefer a ball to keep the pins a bit lower. This ball from top to bottom reminds me alot of the Crunch.
Readability: I prefer to use balls that react smoothly and get a relatively early read of the lanes to read a pattern. I gave it a shot on a pattern late in the night when I knew the heads were going just to see how it would work. I had 2 options at this point....loft the ball to help it get through the first 25 ft (NO not a 25ft loft
), or I had to throw it really hard. This ball tells you what the pattern is doing.
Overall: Just like I felt about the Crunch, this ball will probably be overlooked, but what a bargain to have a ball like this in the mid price range. Versatile, even rolling, control, strong hitting.....there is not much more someone needs out of a ball.
