Hex Darkside

I gain more and more faith in this ball every time I use it. I simply cannot stress enough that if you are on oil, OR on lanes with dry backends and are bowling with guys that use plastic and move the oil around more, that it should not be used. This ball absolutely needs to have some kind of dry patch to the pocket.

I say this because this ball hit awesome, carried awesome and reacted awesome tonight for a nice 299. Missed outside of my mark on the 10th and 11th, but only 2 boards, and it was area I knew I had for the entire night. Then, on the 12th, I hit my mark, released the ball well, and it hit some oil and never turned the corner. I left-------a 2 pin. OUCH.....a 2 pin. That is alright though.

I just wanted to say to everyone that has passed on this ball for any given reason that you are missing out. Your pro shops should be dropping this ball at a very affordable fee, and if you can get one, get one.

I have high ball speed, so maybe someone with a little less speed will be able to use this ball on some carrydown, but this should not be a ball that is used on med/heavy or more.

Excaliber,

On a side note to agree with yours, unless I have fresh backends this ball won't move more than three boards on any part of the lane.

Mine is drilled pin under ring with the CG stacked under it.

I thought that by throwing it on walled up synthetic lanes that it would bounce of the "bumpers", but the ball just kept skidding.  It never really turned over and when it did it was wash out or 2-8-10 city.  (Carrydown sets in after four frames, but the wall is still pretty dry.)

It's a gem on short oil though and when I do get to use it, I love the reaction I see.

...But, right now I'm having a tough time figuring out whether or not it's actually weaker than my Green Gargoyle.  (Which is almost as weak as a 100 year old corpse)

I guess this ball is sensitive to drilling because for me it is a MONSTER! I agree that it will struggle on carry down and I also have trouble if the back ends are to dry. If you give me the bumpers I can pound'em into submission with this ball. The carry is so good that I sometimes stay with it too long trying to find an area on the lane to play. I have played a small 10 to 5 swing, a 17 to 7 swing and a 20+ to 10+ swing and I have haven't had any problems with carry. If you can get one do not miss out on this diamond. I ordered another to keep in the closet just incase something happens to the one I'm using. The Darkside is a great complement to the Freak Out and Triple Threat to cover all of your medium conditions.

I am completely smitten with my Darkside...

3 inch pin....3oz TW...

Drilled pin centered over fingers and CG centered on palm/grip line...

Hit it up with Doc's Elixir...and then a nice coat of Black Magic...

Ball will still rev in the midlane, but make such a smooth and controllable move to the pocket on the dry.....the hit is phenomenal......The sound is a bit different....not quite the bang I get from my Mutant/Phenom/Crunch/Thrash...but sounds a bit more hollow.....but carry is exceptional.  Only huge release mistakes seem to leave me corner pins....

Been out of bowling last 6 months...just starting to get back in the swing...Wed night have 5 man league and by late second game....track area starts to really dry quickly.  So switched to my Darkside for game 3.....and 277...(was my fault on a ball in the 4th....serious pull..)....I could play straight up the track......where others were getting way too much friction/reaction.......and was flush every shot........love this ball and think it will win me some serious dough on short and fried conditions.....

Bought mine from Excaliber...

THANK YOU EXCALIBER!!....lol..

Am in serious love with my Darkside.  Used it again this week in a different house.  Serious short oil shot.  Swung the Darkside from 20 to 10 and killed the place....Then used again in Game 3 in my other league....269......Have a tourney coming up next weekend then AF Camp Tryouts where am sure will see a day or two of serious short oil........and can't wait!!!...

I also got mine from Excaliber. Thanks!!!

This ball amazes me more and more every time I use it.

Example,
I run into the center of my Monday night big money league and with no practice I shoot 204 with my set-up ball (Pearl Stomp). All the other high average bowlers were shooting 240 to 270. The next game I switch to the Darkside and off to the races we go. I shoot 259 and 279 the last two games for $350 in side pots. This ball has paid for itself 3 or 4 times over.

It is a great, great ball. Get one if you can.

srlunatic and dw....no need to thank me. I am just glad that you guys are enjoying it as much as I do.

I am not sure there is a ball around right now that is as much of a bargain as the Darkside was.

If anyone out there is thinking about the Darkside, STOP!!! And just buy it. It is worth every penny.
