Hex OOB finish?
« on: June 09, 2005, 05:20:09 PM »
My baby(my original hex) needs a re-polishing pretty badly so tomorrow I'll head up to the pro shop and do so. What should I polish it with to bring it back to or close to the OOB surface. I'd really like to get some length out of this ball as it seems it is reading the lanes a lot earlier than it was before.

After I get this thing back I'll see if I can figure out what the heck is wrong with me(in a major slump right now). Hey Track Guru's, you guys have any idea?

Hey Hex,

Sorry but this was a pre-staff ball for me.  I'm thinking it was a compound finish so Clean and Sheen would be the equivalent of that.  Maybe Charlest would know, he liked his.

Alright well I'm off to the shop in a half an hour so we'll see what happens.

Sorry, Ric. I got mine as a used 16 lb-er. Compound sounds right to me. AT its shiniest, it might have been 1000 grit.

Hex017,

My best advice is finish to something known to/for you. That way, you can easily re-finish, when needed. I'd suggest starting with 600 grit sandpaper or nylon pad; then use Clean and Sheen which is roughly the equivalent of a polishing compound (1000 grit).

super crank...nice...I havn't really watched you throw it real close, you get good revs, doesn't look like you crank it though. Was he helping you out or were just trying out those new balls?

Man I must be cool or something, I mean I hijacked my own thread.
