Hex or Hextreme?
« on: April 05, 2007, 04:00:23 PM »
I am in need of a ball to get deep with and still be able to turn the corner and carry the 10 on a Wet/dry 10 to 10 house shot. Which ball would be better?
I have both of them and only want to get one redrilled.... because I am unsure as to liking the balls, and would rather spend the money on another saw if neither of these will do what I want. rather than plug and redrill both, I thought I would ask...... and see if one of them would work??

Recommend a drilling also, if you would...

With a high gloss finish, the Hex, being Track's closest thing to a particle pearl will have mor ebackend than the HexTreme on a medium oil pattern. The Hextreme being more of a pearl resin and a high RG (2.58) is mor eflippy ball on lighter patterns.

On a wet/dry, I'd use the Hex with a compound polish, in general.

The Hextreme needs more dry to make the turn.

A lot depends on your "hand" and the drill on each.

IMHO the best ball for this condition from track is one of three. The 5.0, machine, and the power machine. Any one of these would work great for the line you say you would like to play.

Why do you want to get deep? Unless yo uknow how the ball and how it's drilled, how do you know where you have to play?

How are they drilled now?

What are your release/delivery specs?
Tilt, rotation, etc. What's in your profile is not sufficient, if you really want a proper recommendation.

Hey Buzz,

Charlest is correct in his descriptions of the two balls.  It does depend a lot on how your style is to help pick the correct ball for you.

Charlest, I assume Buzz being a tweener also has to do like I do on the wet/dry.  I can't come close to squaring up on on my wet/dry conditions.  I always end up standing against the ball return and just throwing right (which I'm not good at) projecting the breakpoint to literally around 50ft.  Definitely not my A game...

Rick,

There's potentially a HUGE difference between not being able to square up and "playing deep". I also can't do that, "square up" even with a White Dot.

Last week I started with a ball that's the equivalent to an Equation, but by the end of the 2nd game and start of the first, I was up against the ball return with the new Lanemasters Hornet (a fairly decent light oil ball), trying my best to imitate my 3rd squad, Nationals shot: inside 4th arrow, playing a breakpoint around 13 board.

If I had dared try my White Dot spare ball as a strike ball, I probably would have played 15 at the arrows out to 5 board IF I COULD HAVE FORCED THAT FAR OUTSIDE!
