Hexplosion vs. Solution Power Plus EX
« on: August 26, 2005, 02:22:11 PM »
To the Revolution I bring a question for which I need answered.

In my arsenal my pro shop guy and I found a huge hole. I have nothing between my X-Ception and Desert Heat. Talk to the guy I bowl with on Wednesday nights in Scratch League (he's on Track's Amateur Staff) and he believes the Solution Power Plus EX is worth waiting for. I took it upon myself to do some research between the Hexplosion and SPPEX. I was wanting to ask the Revolution their thoughts on whether or not I should wait on the SPPEX or find a Hexplosion since they are almost gone due to being discontinued. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I think either would fit, so would the original Heat. One caution on the Hexplosion, it is a particle, WOW2, so it *can* be aggressive, but the core is a weaker core and the high rg lets it get through the heads with ease, unless you are on toast.

Hey Clint,

I had the remake Heat, but a friend of mine (the original chewmeister) bought it off of me and he is the one I've been trying to get to throw a Track ball for awhile and he absolutely likes the reaction he is getting. At first he didn't like the polish, so we took it to 1000 grit and now the think is a medium hook monster for the right condition. I'm sure he'll have something to say about it. If anybody else has a thought on which one I should get let me know. Once again Clint, thanks buddy! Help is appreciated as always!

A VooDoo would fit perfectly in there!!!

We need to petition Track for a remake!!..lol..

Think the Solution will definately fill the bill on this one...

Maybe even a Dry Heat?? Which probably could get pretty cheap?

steve austin,
I would do a slash this ball is very good. You can make it read the midlane or get the down the lane and read the backend. The solutions are very good also but i think they are closer to the dry heat reaction based on how the dry heat is laid out.

Sr,

Didn't Never-Learn suggest a polished Messenger Traction, as a close alternative to the VooDoo? Did you get a chance to try it?

I think the Solution Ex will have the same cover as the VooDoo but a different core. Comparing an Ex to the polished Traction should be interesting.

Srlunatic,

Never got a chance to throw the Voo Doo and they seem hard to find now. I had a Dry Heat and when they introduced the Desert, I got rid of the Dry Heat and got the Desert Heat instead. Thanks for the suggestion.

Michael (The Original Chewmeister),

The Desert Heat has a 4 1/2 X 5 1/2 pin above layout. I have to agree with you, and when I practiced with Wes at Plamor yesterday he noticed that it was hooking a lot more than usual. The solution? (no pun intended) we put a weight hole where the PAP is almost located and we polished it up to the max with polish. Reaction has indeed become more tamer, and to present my evidence of more tamer, I left the 6-7 hitting the pocket flush! LOL!

TrackAtl,

The Slash was a great ball, but due to me getting the Triton Elite, I liked the Elite a lot better and since they were both basically the same ball, I had another guy wanting some of Track's symmetric stuff because all he had was the Rule, X-Ception, Animal, etc. so I sold him the Slash and he is doing great with it! Thanks for the suggestion though buddy!

Sammy The Sage,

You are most correct and I appreciate the words! I have to also say that my
X-Ception is my most versatile ball I own. Plus its the 300/800 Combo Ball also! So you know its going to remain in the bag!

Finally, keep the thoughts flowing, push comes to shove, I'll probably end up more than likely getting both of them and see what I think. LOL! Thanks again and God Bless you all!

It's up to you, but If you can find a Hexplosion, I wouldn't hesitate with the price of them. The cover can be a bit strong, but a weak drilling/surface alterations should do the trick. I love mine, and it will have a place in my bag for some time to come. It is a great ball for when things break down. Hits like all Track balls and keeps the pins nice and low. Good Luck.

Michael,

I think the Solution PP EX would fit perfectly. The Hexplosion would fit as well. I like the Hexplosion for dry, but the PP EX gets more length and it is better suited to fill the slot you are looking to fill.
I had my thoughts that the Ex would be similiar to the Hex or even the CrunchTime, but it is significantly weaker than both of those. Compared to the HEX it has less backend movement and compared to the CT it has less midlane.

I think it is the ball you are looking for,

Hey Carl,

Long time no see buddy! Glad to see your back safe and sound. Since I've been finding the Hexplosions on sale on the internet I figured I would jump at the chance and pick up one. Another good thing is I might've found a job so that I will be able to financially pay for these also. I am going to get a EX as well just to see which one I would like best. Besides, it makes me feel like I can own up to being as my signature says "Wanna Be!"

Glad to see your home and thanks for the suggestions buddy!

The Solution Power EX is a sleeper strong ball.  It will be stronger, especially downlane than a Hexplosion.  It's a great ball that will cover some boards if the backend is strong.  It's definitely up there with the Hex/Crunchtime in strength.  I've been getting a lot of play with my EX and Heat.

I know for a fact that SteveAustin2808 owned a Slash(see his review) and he said it just didn't fit in his aresnal b/c he got a Triton Elite(Almost the same ball in terms of reaction). Basically, it was pointless for him to keep the Slash and he ended up selling it to another person who got it resurfaced and it works great for him.

One thing I know about Austin is very simple: he has an almost complete aresnal and is looking to fill in the last gap in it. He is a good bowler and is improving everytime I see him. Besides, I notice Track equipment reacts better for him than anything else I have ever seen him throw, and Track has the range of balls that fit him better than anything else I have seen him throw.

Mike, may you find what suits best for you.

Chewie

P.S. How about maybe throwing that Wired with that odd pin placement you had a couple of years ago? If you sanded it, maybe it would work.

I would use the heat(remake).  I think this is a perfect fit for light oil between the X and desert heat.  I have one and it's awesome on light oil.  Huge backend.
