For what i read and heard the pattern 4 is the toughest one

Jonah, the patterns play very different. The things you need to work on most are controlling your speed and Rotation. You need to have slow feet and be able to repeat the same shot every time. Pattern 5 is 44 Feet of oil and you will be playing inside. You will need to start between third and fourth arrows and move left all day. The balls you will need will need to be drilled on medium flare patterns with a lot of midlane roll and smooth backend.

Pattern 4 plays very different depending on the lane surface. If you are playing on Pro Anvil lanes it will be slick, there will be no area, and you will have to go farely staight. On wood it will be difficult but the track area will develop and you will have a decent shot late.

Pattern one will vary a lot depending on surface. It is normally high scoring and will yield of lot of good games if you are lined up properly.

Houma will have pattern 5 and will be inside and good scoring. I won my first regional there as an amatuer and I have finished in the top five almost every year they have put on the tournament. The Leirette's are great hosts and you will have a great time there. Hopefully I will be able to go to Houma this year. If I get to go look me up.

From what I have seen, patterns can play very differently depending on the surface you are on and the surrounding weather (humidity, etc). However, one thing that is always for sure, is you need to control your backend. I never had a problem in the few regionals I bowled in getting the ball to turn over at the backend, it was a matter of getting it to the same spot everytime down the lane.

Keep your head on straight, grind out the 200 games on tougher lanes/when you are lost, and go after em when you found what you like!

Good luck!

my main concern is that my ball because of my revs and my ball speed tends to roll early
would that be a problem?

Lanes broke down quick for me every time I bowled a regional, especially if you played in the track area, it was gone even quicker.

How far are your pins from your axis? If you have that many revs your pins should be from 4 to 6" from your axis to keep them from rolling early.

During the tournament you should be moving left all day to follow the oil line as the lanes break down. My rev rate is normally in the 470 range and I can get it to about 600 and down to about 170. You need to work on controlling your rev rate and your speed.
