Input kindly needed on drilling layout on the "Equation"
« on: November 01, 2006, 01:04:09 AM »
I just recently drilled up a <Green> Machine. Love it!  5.0 (pin to pap) X 3.5 (cg) X 4.0 (mb/break control) x-hole on PAP; Pin-out 3.25" TW after drill aprox 1.5oz

My next ball project is getting the symmetrical Equation drilled. Hopefully, want to drill to be on a medium to medium light (not dry) condition. The undrilled Ball has a 3.5 pin-out and 3 3/4oz TW. Having thrown the Equation already in a practice session (BR user RDS's 4.5 X 4.5 pin just right of ring -- 3.5 inch pin-out; drilled for speed dominant bowler), it seemed to hook almost round house skid flip and was very continuous. My only concern, I'm looking for a kindly skid flip ball for this portion of my new tournament arsenal. Looking to dial in a adequate drilling to get a base of the <Green> Machine and Equation as center pieces in this new tournament arsenal. (ie asymmetrical vs symmetrical exploitation; best of both worlds)

I'm mildly rev dominant higher tracker (see profile for exact details), and thinking for something like 5 X 5 above fingers drilling (according to the drill sheet recommendation).  Anybody have the <Green> Machine and the Equation, with similar drilling goals, or any educated guess that could be a possibility to drill this one up for a medium condition.  My concern, I don't want too much skid flip, would like to back it off a bit without sacrificing the natural equation tendacy of being continuous, but want it to go longer than the Green Machine. Willing to change surface of either.

New Arsenal (balls already purchased)
Mean Machine (heavier medium) (not drilled yet)
Green Machine (medium oil)(drilled layout mentioned earlier)
Equation (medium - light) (? not drilled)
Roto Grip Venus (light oil to light dry)
Columbia White Dot (dry - Spare)
Speciality ball - Columbia Super Trooper

Other balls either coming or in consideration:
Roto Grip Epic Saga
Track Inertia
Track Power Machine

thanks in advance, fasttrackers. all posted suggestions are welcome. Please feel free to PM me if you have an inside track experience.

I think the Equation will naturally go longer than the Machine.  Id say if you want them to be the base of your arsenal, drill them the same way.  I have mine drilled 4x2 according to the drill sheet and on a medium-light house shot, it works wonders!
