Ok guys, this is my first year back after a five year layoff. I'm throwing all Ebonite right now but want to go to all Track. I only threw Track before I quit so I still have a pearl green synergy and trackster urethane left from the old arsenal. I wanted to see which Track balls you would replace my Ebonite stuff with. Heres what I have and what it's drilled for:

Killer Instinct sanded--- heavy oil
V2 strong--- medium heavy oil
V2 sanded--- polished for medium oil(goes long and snaps)
Killer Instinct pearl--- medium light oil
Tornado pearl--- light oil
Maxim--- spare ball

I'm not sure what the exact drills are, I leave all that stuff to my ball driller. I have some ideas on what to get but wanted some 2nd opinions. I throw the ball with medium speed and revs and track somewhat low on the ball. Any opinions on ball selection and drillings is appreciated. Thanks

In my humble opinion,

If you're looking for the same reactions, go with:

KI Sanded - Rule sanded down to 800-grit
V2 Strong - Animal
V2 Sanded - Xception
KI Pearl - Crash
Tornado Pearl - Hexplosion highly polished
Maxim - Boxing Glove

..but if you're looking for a killer arsenal:

Rule GP2
Rule
Xception
Crash
Hexplosion
Boxing Glove

These are just my opinions. Advice from a Track rep (ie. tenpinspro, EXCALIBER, ClintDaley, etc.) would be much more helpful!

First off, welcome to Track!

With the Ebonite arsenal you have listed, what I would suggest from Track would end up being a little different....and definately an upgrade at each position.

-Heavy: Rule GP2---more ball foul line to pocket than the KI...EASILY.
-Med Heavy: I would go with the Arsenal Aggressive Particle here. It too is probably a little stronger than the V2 Strong. It will definately roll up a little sooner.
-Polished for Medium: This slot has Arsenal Angular Particle written all over it.
-Medium/light oil: Xception. This should be close to the K.I.P, but you will see a huge difference in how this thing kills the pindeck as opposed to the K.I.P.
-Light oil: For the best results here I would say the Dry Heat. The core is a bit stronger than the Tornado's, so make sure it is drilled a little weaker
-spare ball: BOXING GLOVE, if you can find one

He's definently on it, there is a great line up there except...the dry heat is just WAY too strong for me and all my friends who've had/seen one agree. If you can find an older Track piece,(like a Hex...

) that would be great.

Hey alloutsmith,

Same here, welcome to the Track forum. Here would be my suggested arsenal for you.

HEAVY - GP2 - Strongest ball in the market to date.
MED/HEAVY - Arsenal Aggressive - Strong symmetrical block
MED - Arsenal Angular - nice strong pearl particle that can clear the heads cleanly with a very strong backend reaction
MED/LITE - Xception polished, this will offer you very good length and good strong backends as well but the cover is just a little weaker then the Angular hence the recommendation to polish.
LIGHT - Hexplosion/Dry Heat - Both balls offer a smooth rolling reaction when the lanes are on the drier side. We really don't want anything to flippy or strong on the dry, right?

My choices are based on your description of med revs and speed but also having a lower track which might indicate that stronger balls may be more beneficial to you if you tend to skid a little more then the average player. Hope this helps...

Thanks for the help guys. I threw Track exclusively for seven years before I took my layoff and I can't wait to start throwing them again. Thanks again and I look forward to being a part of this forum.
