Title: How do you like your 920a??
Post by: thefreestyler1 on January 12, 2010, 07:10:32 AM
Just wondering how you guys out there that have this ball are liking it?? How is yours drilled and what types of patterns are you using it on?

I just picked one up and can't wait to throw it on league tomorrow night.

I'll echo Dave's sentiments about the 920A, i've had mine for awhile now and have used it on a variety of patterns, from THS to Shark and Kegel's Beaten Path and have found a good amount of success on all of them...

For being a high end ball, it gets through the heads very well (layout is pin over ring, about 4 1/2" from PAP for me, MB next to thumb, no weighthole) thanks to the pin placement and the pearlized cover.  The strength of the ball makes sure that there is no squirt through the mids, and it definitely makes a strong, but controllable, move off the spot.

When i'm on fresher, heavier conditions, the 930T is the ball to start with, as the lanes start to open up a bit, the 920A is definitely the piece to go with

Than you need to throw an Azo Area, 900G Bounty Hunter Pearl, Motiv GT-1, or a Cell Pearl. All are angular, strong pearls, and IMHO, can all handle more oil than the 920A.

This is no knock on the 920A, I love mine. However, it's spot in my arsenal is clear. I would put the 920A in a very similar class with the Seismic Epicenter in the medium lighter oil handling pearls.

at box finish I was having troubles with mine burning up early on me(I am a high track player).
I used some snake oil and light pressure on a spinner and the ball is now a complete beast.
just today I was using a hot sauce pearl and it was getting a little touchy downlane....pulled out the 920a and got a much firmer and readable move at the break point.

I just got a chance to throw my 920 last night...wow! I'm definitely impressed. Definitely controlled angularity, exactly what I was looking for in this ball. It makes a really strong move once it starts to break and gets real nice length. In my 5 man league, I had the most solid look at the pocket for most of the night.

Extremely happy with this ball so far...can't wait to get back to the lanes with it.
