How good is the SHEER havoc?
« on: August 09, 2005, 02:50:01 PM »
I've got a chance to get one of these, just don't know how good they are. I had an assassin back in the day and really liked it.  This ball has a similar weightblock ( I think) and wondered how they performed.

Given what the Assassin was, and given the coverstock on the Sheer Havoc, their performance should be pretty close overall. Not indentically, given they were made in different oil & ball eras, but I believe the SH should react similarly to the way an Assassin reacts now (without a worn cover, of course). Any changes could probably easily be handled by cover modifications.
Yes, the actual composition of the coverstocks are different, but both are polished particle covers.

Both should handle medium-light to medium+ (maybe as much as medium-heavy)  oil of today's quality, depending on hand and drilling.

I had a Sheer and regret ever getting rid of it. It was a good ball for medium oil. I had mine drilled pin under ring, cg stacked below. The ball went long and had a very strong move on the backend. A very strong arc. It hit the pins very well too. I had messengers flying everywhere. If you can get one at a good price, I recommend it.

The Sheer was one of those balls that wasnt very popular, unsure why. But those who did try one, loved it.

I can only echo the comments made above. Most of the ones I have seen have gone for a GREAT price, and it has been discontinued, so get your hands on one of you still can!

Get it, you won't regret it. I got one back in April for a very good price and couldn't be happier with it.
