I did it!!!
« on: May 18, 2006, 12:36:03 PM »
Yes, I finally did it!! I shot my first 300 tonight!!!

Wow, what an experience it was. And before I tell the story, I have to thank Rick Leong (Tenpinspro) for helping me decide on the drill pattern for my Machine. That is the ball I shot the 300 with.

Overall, I went 715 for the night. I can't believe I shot the 300!! I nearly blacked out as I let the final ball go. Wow, I am still in shock!!

Just wanted to share with you all.

On a less positive note, I missed my average goal of 210 by finishing the season at 209.5!!! Oh well, the 300 makes up for it!!

I bet it feels good to be able to say "I was perfect that game."
Just think there are only 3 sports where you can be perfect but only two of them is it possiable to do so. Bowling and baseball. The other is golf but nobody can be perfect in that because nobody and drive the ball into the hole ever time on one shot.

Ryan!!! Great going my man- nice to see you finally achieve one of your biggest goals in your bowling life. Sounds like I need to make a trip to your area so I can see this ball in person myself....

Here's to the first of many 300's in your career, a 775 or 800 series is surely on the way as well.

Thanks everyone!!

One thing is for sure, that ball should have many more 300's left in it considering it was only the 4th game I've put on the ball.

I am still in awe and feel as if it wasn't real. I have never felt nerves like that before. One fellow bowler asked me what moment in life gave me the most nerves, the 300, my wedding day or the day I proposed, I told him the 300 did! LOL.

I truly do feel blessed to achieve something like this. Many people bowl many years and do not achieve this. I have thanked many people for my success, but first and foremost is God! Without him, this wouldn't have been possible. I just wish he'd have made the nerves a bit less!

Thank you all again!
Ryan

P.S. - Matt, you really do need to see this ball. As I stated previously, Rick aka Tenpinspro really helped alot with the explanation of how strong the mass bias is in this ball as compared to the others that I was replacing. Essentially, I didn't need to put the mass bias as far out near my VAL to achieve the reaction I wanted. Again, I thank you Rick for this insight!

What game of the set was it?  My first sanctioned was the 1st game and I didn't follow up it very well.

It was the second game of my set. I started the night with a 217 and the funny thing is I lost my reaction toward the end of that game. So, I started playing in the oil to start the second game and that obviously worked. 12 shots later, I was in shock and couldn't believe what had happened.

I was still shaking through the first few frames of the next game, but tried to stay clean. I started with three spares, then threw a 3 bagger and was clean until the 10th. I left the 6-10 and missed it inside for a 198. Oh well, I only had two opens all night. The missed 6-10 and a pocket 7-10 split in the 10th frame of game 1.
