If you were to put the cyclone in the #series what would it be? I have only thrown track since the # system started but at the urging of my pro shop operator I will be geting one befor I go to nats in a few weeks so I would like to know where it will fit. Thanks to all that reply.

My guess: 500A.
5 for the amount of hook
00 because it's a symmetric core.
A because it is angular.
I'd suspect it was in the range of, roughly equivalent to the 508A.
It is much cheaper than Track 500 series ball.
It is much stronger than any 300 series Track ball but not as strong as 700 series balls.

From what I have seen I would put it in the 5 series. As far as what Charlest said, I'm not sure I'd label it angular, because from the Cyclones I've tried they tend to start up a fair amount sooner than the 508A. However, I would put the total hook and backend reaction the ball produces in-between the 508A and 503C.
Overall, it's a very good piece. Especially considering it's price.

Interesting. Track must make some really strong pieces. My Cyclone is super strong to the point I can't even use it around here. I bought a Track 716C because it looked controllable in the hands of a few players I saw. I drilled mine a little stronger based on those observations and I can't use that piece either because it is one of the strongest pieces I own, sheesh!
I have the multi-colored Cyclone solid by the way, and that ball is VERY angular.

Call the tech support guy at Track. I bet he could tell you better than anyone around,my opinion.

I was told by one whom I regard as a fairly reliable source that one was a solid and two of the originals were pearlized, buttttt once you get to a surface as fine as 4000 grit + polish (which takes the surface grit level into the 5000 - 6000 range) I think you'll find less and less difference between a solid and a pearl.

I would say the cyclone is closer to the 300t. I had both balls, and saw more snap with the cyclone as opposed to the earlier roll of the dull 300t. But similar in strength
