Track guys upset with the buyout
« on: February 10, 2007, 11:25:30 AM »
I know a lot of you die hard Track fans are upset with what's been going on with the Ebonite buy out.  Don't forget that these are just bowling balls.  I know matching up to a particular company's equipment does make a difference.  Heck that can make the difference between making money or not.  Some of us bowlers make a good amount of money bowling so we take this ball buying pretty serious.

I used to roll Track equipment.  I ended up having some bad luck with some of there releases and switched to Hammer.  My scores went thru the roof rolling Hammer and I have done pretty good money wise.  My entire arsenal is Hammer.  However that doesn't mean I won't try other brands.  These are just bowling balls.

Ebonite has done a great job with the Hammer brand.  I feel they will do the same with Track.

So hang tight Tracksters things may be better than before.

I am encouraged by the purchase of the Columbia bowling assets by Ebonite, as shocking on the surface as it may seem.  Ebonite while I generally don't match up with some of their ONE oil absorbing mainstream products, the newer nv and tamer issues have my interest up. Hammer products are very innovative also.

Ebonite is very good with communication, be it web page education, seminars, and demonstrations, technology, and company direction.  Something that in many cases was very lacking with the Columbia Umbrella of Ball companies.

The Industry still needs more consolidation in this area.  The Track name, in particular, has always raised interest; very good bowling ball company name.  Columbia 300 also - a very good, strong name. Whether they hang onto those assets or incorporate some of the technologies into the Ebonite products, only time will tell.

I would think that Ebonite will be selling some of the bowling assets in the coming year, and garnering the best.  Ebonite has been around along time - and can see the writing on the wall and getting ready for the next cycle of bowling.

IMHO, it levels the playing field to the big three and few smaller homespun grassroots companies.  In business, it seems that 2 or 3 major competitors make the capitalist free enterprise market work more efficiently.  There was simply too much pork on the market - just like the food supermaket industry today.  Consolidation, necessary - only the best will survive; it will be more efficient and better for the bowler in the long run.

I am with Lane1Bowler here Ebonits stuff is dying and cracking all over One line and TNVs already are dying and cracking. All I hope is this: Just keep the R&D depts seperate and there shouldn't that much difference, I hope

Even Track experimented with different cores and covers and would have or will continue in the future. Ebonite wants to and probably does put out a good product and wants to continue. If There comes a time when Track no longer matches up well with my game then I will switch out of necessity as would most people. People have a right to be mad but why, maybe the change will bring a better lower priced product, we really can't say yet. Do you look at the glass as being half full or half empty?!

All I've had was one cracked ball from Track called the Desert Heat which was a manufacturing defect. Thats the only ball I have had crack.

All the rumors about stuff dying and cracking is bs. If you don't throw it, don't judge it.

I HAVE BEEN USING TRACK PRODUCTS FOR OVER 12 YEARS, NEVER HAD A PROBLEM AND MY GAME INCREASED TREMENDOUSLY WHEN I MADE THE CHANGE.  AS FAR AS BEING UPSET ABOUT THE CIRCUMSTANCES, SURE A LITTLE, BUT LETS FACE IT...THE BIGGER DOG ALWAYS WINS.  I WILL BE IN THE MARKET TO TRY ADDITIONAL EQUIP ONCE EVERYTHING GETS FIGURED OUT, LUCKILY BEING A REGIONAL PBA MEMBER WE GET DISCOUNTED PRICES ON BALLS FROM THE MANUFACTURERS, THAT MAY BE A GOOD THING HERE REAL QUICK.....
