Fasttrackers,
I received, as promised, the Track Ball-a-day giveaway ball from the Columbia300 warehouse. Requested a 16 pounder, 4+ inch pin out and got only a measly 1.25" with 2 3/4 top weight. Well, beggars can't be choosers.
I'm speculating that this ball has been fairly popular and inventories might be running thin? Also, the email I received indicated the promotion was limited to stock on hand and requested pin outs will be filled with the closest available. No complaints.
Now, what to do? I am a high roll tracker, PAP 5 1/2> 1/2^, Mildly Rev dominant, speed 16-18 mph. On large flare balls my track is close to the fingers and very close to the thumb. Also, have a large hand that spans @ 5 1/4" which can be problematic to physical layouts; getting them lined up & ie Legal, with short pins. Would have loved a longer pin out so I could have gone above the fingers with the pin. PS.. please don't recommend pin under fingers, or on top Label, won't work for a very high track and high flaring ball.
Looking at the drilling instructions, Mildly Rev Dominant (MRD), thinking of going delayed reaction which would put the pin at 2.5 to 1.5 near my PAP and the Robo Core MB @ 6.0".
Anyone else with a high track or ball driller have any suggestions on how to make this work? Might consider buying another (a second one) with the longer pin-out. And using this ball for a different look, ie, delayed - more controlled reaction.
Current Robo Core balls:
Green Machine 5 X 4mb label (3.5 pin out) love this layout!
Mean Machine 2.5 X 5mb (2.5 pin out) (in shop being drilled, will wait to drill the Power Machine until I see the results of the Mean Machine)
My local proshop ball driller is Rohn Morton (PBA senior tour) @ Hollywood Bowl in Portland, Oregon. Just wanted to get some ideas and research before I gave him a call; get the concensus; before I get his thoughts and ideas on this matter.
at this point, looking for some suggestions, or even confirmations that I'm on the right track. Thanks.
