Inertia? Carl, Clint, Rick, anybody..?
« on: September 02, 2006, 11:26:32 AM »
Hey everyone i am getting an Inertia from Clint, and was already wondering how to drill it.

I asked my driller how to lay it out and he said..
" I would put your CG on the PAP and place the pin in a 45 degree angle towards your fingers. Keep in mind that the pin will be the distance away from your axis point as it is from the CG. This is a variation of an axis leverage drilling. I have very high success with this layout. Very smooth and strong "
(copy and pasted)

Now what exactly would this do in reaction? He said smooth and strong, but has anybody used a layout like this?

charlest,

You are correct bud. I believe FastTracker has this happen with another ball when the driller described the layout.

CG location does not matter on asymmetrical equipment. Ofcourse it will matter when it comes to statics and where to place a weighthole.........which is why the layout that FastTracker metioned worried me.

Placing the CG on PAP on the Inertia could very well end up having the MB well past VAL.

FastTracker,

What kind of reaction are you looking for out of the Inertia? Where do you want it to fit in your arsenal.....and the balls that you want it to fit between, HOW are they laid out?

Hey Carl,

I wanted my Inertia to be smooth but still have a strong backend on it. I wanted it to fit between my Mean (for heavy oil), and Action Packed (can't take carrydown). I wanted the Inertia to handle the carrydown when the Packed can't. I guess the Inertia will have to be early??

I hope this helps! Ask me more if you have to!

Let me just put it this way. I know what I am going to drill and I am well aware of what MB does and where it should be placed to acheive proper reactions. If CG doesn't matter on a ball and MB is the most important then why even put CG's on a ball?????  What Brian forgot to tell you is I told him to request a ball with 2.5 oz top or below....And also request a ball with the MB and pin in a straight line through the CG. Yes this would put the MB beyond his VAL. Most shop operators and bowlers on here have never even tried a layout like this......You all stick to your 3 inch pin label drillings with your MB in the strong positions.....How many of you PRO drillers have ever even tried a dynamic layout like this one???? I have drilled 1000's of balls and for PBA National Champions included.....Sometimes when you have experience and knowledge beyond a drill sheet you know what to drill for certain players and certain reactions. The 45 degree comment is meant from the Midline towards where the finger holes would be. The CG on the PAP would also put the X-hole there. Try this layout before you knock it. If Tommy Jones came on here and stated he used this layout everyone would say how much of a genius he is. Try to think outside the box a little before you critisize a ball driller. Anyone with half a brain can drill balls strictly by the drill sheets. I would like to know how many PBA players actually use normal DRILL SHEET layouts. Not many as they read the oil line way to sharp and eratically. They use Pin on axis drillings and pin 1" from PAP drillings. They use pins 5" from the PAP on the VAL.... What typical ball driller would ever think of trying these layouts.   THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX PEOPLE!!!!! Drill sheets are a guide.  Not the LAW!! I am so sick of all you at home Pro Shop guys second guessing my layouts and my abilities.....Like I said.  I have drilled 1000's of balls for the best to the worst. I don't have to justify my theories or my layouts....As for my customers or my potential customers....I know what I know and I live by my theories...That is what makes me a successful operator. Pleaee don't read this the wrong way...   BEANS
