With regard to the comment that was made in a post about someone loving his Machine and looking for a compliment

The infatuation with the older stuff...

The older Texas Track balls are/were GREAT balls. Different covers and cores. That was Track. No one can take that away. The Machine line is STILL a great line. The ROBO is still an awesome ball as is the POWER Machine. The new stuff IS Ebonite. Everyone is trying to pimp the new stuff on here and understandably so.

You can still win money with the original Track Equipment. It's still all about matching up. Your style, the condition, the layout, the surface, and the line you play as well as the adjustments you make.

I know people that still throw plastic and can score well

If you're on Staff for Ebonite's Track I can understand your positive feeling about the new products. Don't rip on those who love the original TRACK. My stuff still rolls pretty and smacks the pins silly. The Phoenix is a damn good ball too.

I'm totally with on this one. I'm still throwing my Mean & Power Machine. Equation 2 still plays like new. And the Desert Heat. Don't get me started. Everytime I take this ball out, everyone always seem to have a story about it. There's nothing like the original Track balls!

my all time favorite older ball from track was the triton elite.i would love to get my hands on a new one.that ball was just money for me all the time.

I just loved the Power Machine, but I dont think you can beat the Kitetic, and the Energy right now, even from the older line.

Heh, I still have the Contender and Champ myself. Too bad I retired them. Anyone who knows me, knows the love I've had for the Power Machine since day one, and how it's grown since my 300 a couple of weeks ago. As for the new stuff, I'll take my PM on against anyone with the new stuff anyday-even the Kinetic energy which imo has been Tracks' best new ball to date.

Well since i'm the one who made the comment let me say this:

First I loved all the old Track stuff when i was throwing it.
I made a ton of money with the Nuke's and Heat's and Triton's!(I Think i was the only guy who loved the coral Triton!)

My thing is the new stuff is much easier to match up with i think on todays new oils and surfaces. You have a ton of expertise to help you match up a new ball to your game. Not just from Track but from everyone and best yet is alot of it is FREE both here and other avenues to gather information. Its also easier to get the newer stuff (Obviously) and the newer technology even in the past few years will help your game. I would love to get my hands on some older stuff just to have it in the bag sometimes but as supplies dwindle it gets harder and harder if not impossible soon. I just think that getting accustomed to the newer stuff will help you more than drilling older technology. As for affordability I have seen the prices go up and up on older equipment as it become more and more rare. Its supply and demand thats all.

I understand having a favorite ball or a few of them, we've all had those awesome balls that could do no wrong!

Don't be afraid of the new stuff that's all there's a great chance you can find a reaction you need in the bag.

I see it that way:

Old stuff - known stuff. So when I need a ball for a certain need I can ask... there is enough experience out there.

on the other hand time does not stop and advances are made ... but what for?

The thing is... here there are balls rolling you would call "antique"

But those are scoring like the new ones.
So is there really an advance in the technology? Of course... chemistry and physics. Does it really increase scores? now we can debate 'bout that till the end of time... same case as cg..... well I don't say it.

Why am I searching an old ball... cause I have an old ball I know and I want the same core!

And older balls normaly (if not too old

) are cheaper

and working as good the new ones.

Now take a look at the trend: all the newer stuff gets more and more aggressive... at least I get that feeling... then there are companies bringing backl "retro" balls..

it comes down to this,new Track is not the old Track.different covers make the most difference.is that a bad thing,no but you have to figure the new stuff is a whole different breed.I've come to the conclusion that for my game I liked the older stuff better but that's not to say something might come down the pipe that I'll be interested in.it just seems that the Ebo/Track is producing stuff that ignores the mid lane and backends like no other,except for maybe Hammer.I like that type of reaction as it's fun to throw but I want to score and the typical reaction I've seen with the Rising and Black Widow's were hockey stick shape go down 50ft. and hook 30 boards.ebo's covers were another thing I didn't like but maybe they are getting better?the coverstock prep I would put on them didn't last long and I found I was always back to tweaking them after a few nights.the old C-300 covers were alot like the Brunswick covers in the sense that the covers didn't change much from use,noticed I didn't say the Ebo covers died,I've never had that issue.

It is really all about how you match up with the ball, and the ball with the lane conditions.

My highest game and series during league play 278/671 with a Kinetic. Still, if I had to pick one ball to bowl with, forsaking all others, it would be a my mean machine, followed closely by an arsenal artillery and then a power machine, although I have many of Track's new and old releases.

A good bowler can make any ball look good most of the time. Generally, there are not bad balls, just balls used on the wrong conditions, or thrown with much operator error. I am living proof of this. If you have confidence in the ball, know the ball, and know your game, old track, new track, or ebonite want matter much if the truth be told.

We buy the new stuff, often time just to ride it around the corner and, because we can. Not because we need it, or because the old stuff does not work any more or is better.

Although I have The Rising, KE and 2 Kenetics I still enjoy the performance of my 2 5.0's and Dry Heat. Shot a 299 with my Mutant this past season. I still have a NIB 5.0 and Power Machine.
