I never threw the Epidemic. but I can tell you the reaction of the 811A SE to try and help you decide. The 811 is very clean through the front part of the lane, and it has a strong arc/snap to the pocket. This ball is great for long patterns that break down to have early hook. This ball will push easily through the front part of the lane and get you to the pocket consistently. Hope this helps

i use 811 alot.had the epidemic.811 is particle very smooth of dry in back.rolls great.have a stronger drilling pin under ring finger mb 2 inches from thumb.epidemic was drilled the same way.epidemic is very skid snappy.you might want to take down to 4000 or 2000. to smooth out the snap.if you are a very consitant bowler  i mean same release anbd accurate this ball is deadly in box finish.if not take the shine off and it will smooth out the back some.i would personally stick with 811.just more forgiving and more mid roll for me.hammer is a great ball they do hit hard just not as forgiving if you make any errors with release or accuracy issues.hope that helps you

I use my 811 on almost all patterns.  Only the dry burnt up shots make me put it away.  It is my favorite ball.
