Third Game... Flat Ten blues.
« on: March 01, 2007, 04:20:27 AM »
Okay....I'm asking for some advice (HELP). Using my Power Machine is great, until the third game on THS. I then have a tendency to leave flat tens. So...what is a good adjustment for that problem? I do have a tendency to start swinging the bowling ball more in the third game. And I have a relatively slow speed, low to medium rev delivery.

Usually what I do when I start leaving flat tens is I will move 1 board right then if that doesn't work I will move feet 1 board left and target 1 board left.

Hope this helps.

Everyone has a differnet remedy to fit their specific style. Just keep going at it and making small 1 board here or there adjustments and you will find what will work best for you

I change to a different drilled ball. I have a laid-off Mean Machine that my "nephew" tenpinspro (rick) suggested I drill and I play more of a move right and direct line and dont leave that many 3rd game 10 pins.

Chuck,

Normally the reason for flat 10s is that the ball is not turning the corner as hard because it is bleeding off too much energy too soon. In this instance what I suggest is to forget the small moves. It is better to make too big of a move and adjust from there if necessary. Start with like a move 4 boards deeper with your feet and 2 boards inside with your target.

Goodluck,

Hey Chuck,

If it isn't burning up like my Tag Team partner states, it could be carrydown "plus" your style of covering more boards.  If it's carrydown, I'd move right and flush the pocket more to create more entry angle which in turn creates a stronger "exit" angle (props to KOTM, Brian Purcell and Del Warren)).

It could be either scenario that the last 2 posters suggested.  The trick is to figure out which it is and make the appropriate adjustment.  Usually I'll do what Bowler 19 does and attempt to move 1/2-1 bd right and if that doesn't work I'll move 1-2 bds left with my feet and 1 left with my target.  It also depends on the ball I'm using, if I'm using a ball that tends to roll early, I'll move in first as opposed to if I'm using a ball that gets down the lane a little better, I'll move out first.

Move your feet. Either 1 board to the side, or some inches towards/away from the foul line, keeping everything else the same. This small difference should change the ball's entry angle enough to knock down the 10 by a pin chain reaction.

I back up 3 inches on the approach it cahnges the angle very slightly and thus will carry your 10s out
