Kinetic Pearl vs. 505 Series / 930T question
« on: May 05, 2011, 06:17:09 PM »
My local pro shop has an undrilled Kinetic Pearl on the shelf and I'm considering picking it up if he will sell it to me for a good price (relative to the cost of a 505 series ball, that is). How does this ball compare to, say, the 505A, 505C or 505T? The core is the same, though the covers are different. Basically, I'm thinking it might work as a cheaper version of one of those 505 series balls, but wanted to check with Track fans who've thrown these balls to see if I'm assuming correctly.

By the way, for a "Pearl" ball, it sure doesn't look very pearly. Of course, I know that looks can be deceiving in these matters. Somebody posted on YouTube that this is actually a particle pearl, though Track didn't market it that way. Is that correct?

p.s. And while we're on the subject of particle balls, is the 930T a particle ball? I'm assuming that the mica added "for traction purposes" makes it a particle ball. Again, I just want to check that my assumption is correct.

This makes me think it would be more like the 505A than any of the others, and maybe stronger on the backends than that one was. Never threw them, so I don't really know. The one I have sure seems to pick up lots of oil.

To me, very skid/flip on the fresh, and didn't really like carrydown with the OOB finish. Had mine at 2000ab to smooth it out and make it more versatile.

With the original Kinetic series, they had three balls in that lineup, The Kinetic, Kinetic Energy, and Kinetic pearl, and I believe those basically translate into the 505C, 505T, and 505A.

I think you'll find that the Kinetic Pearl will fall in right between the 505C and 505A.  The Pearl will give you a ton of length and will corner strong but not overly angular either.

As for the 930T...it is considered a particle piece.

I have to agree with Juggs. If anything it's a degree stronger than the 505A. ABsolutely vicious ball in terms of backend.

The KP was not a particle, the 930T is a particle.
