What's a good layout for long patterns with dirty back ends? I would like it not too burn up by rolling too early. The only thing I have decided is to go pin up. I am med to high revs on the smooth side of the lanes at 18-19mph. I don't like the layouts on the drill sheet.

You could go with something like a 5" Pin up with the MB around 60 degrees if you are going to use it OOB. Then you could tweak with a hole or surface to enhance the reaction.
I have one like this with a 5 1/2" pin the ball is at 2000 with no hole and its really nice from the right side of the lane on longer patterns.

Thanks for the response. I plan on going with the oob surface. I have a couple of questions for you if you don't mind.
1. Do you have a picture of the your ball with that layout?
2. What reaction do see from it?

Don't be afraid to go pin down, the 9 Series are really clean through the fronts. I'd actually recommend going with a pin down layout if your looking to use it on long patterns, especially if backends are a little crappy. I drilled mine with a 4 1/2" pin over bridge and strong MB, it's clean up front and strong and smooth downlane on medium/heavy type patterns.

I have noticed I would agree with Joe Jr. here with longer patterns I would go with a pin down. Maybe a 4.5 to 5 inch pin under bridge I think this would be the way to go if you are going with a long pattern ball.

I absolutely want to use it for long and flat patterns with dirty backends. That''s really the only pattern that my current equipment isn''t reading well. I did take my Total Bedlam down to 1k and it''s reading the crap much better but if I had one dedicated to that I could bring it back to 2k or 4k to make it more versatile.
If I go pin down will it retain enough energy?
What surfaces are being used with either pin up or down?

I just bowled a tournament that was on a 45 heavier volume pattern. I had a few 930T's still in stock. So I drilled one with a Double Thumb Drilling for this pattern, surface at 2000 abralon.
This layout for me is a 56° drill angle 4" pin to PAP and 30° VAL angle. Note the pin to PAP and VAL angle are always those numbers on a double thumb. The drill angle varies based on your PAP measurements.
When I was on staff with Track the 930T just didn't really match up for me. With this drilling I have to say this is one of the best rolling balls I have ever thrown on a longer oil pattern.

I've thrown mine at 500 and it still gets through the fronts good. And my rev rates in the high 4s.

Joe Jr., my style is similar to yours but I stand a little further up on the approach(six steps as well). I don't know my rev rate but I am really inside the ball at the point of release.
What motion does your 930T make on the heaviest patterns?

That is not the ball. It was another one I drilled for Shark Pattern.

I saw a pin up 930T in action this weekend. It was pin up with a hole to start it up. It picked up strong in the mids and smooth in the backend. The pattern was some kind of house pattern with clean backends. He could only use it for a short while. i think the surface was OOB. i used my Total Bedlam for a couple of frames playing quite deep in the oil and the ball started up rolling early and strong arc through the pattern. I finally settled on my Rapid Fire Solid using less angle away from the pocket.
He suggested pin over ring with the Cg over the palm and MB close to the thumb. i think that could work but not ideal for what I intend it for.

i have my drilled like this speed about 16 and revs 200? clean through front and smooth big hook in back. scuffed at 1000.
