Layout help for new Robo Rule
« on: December 13, 2005, 06:57:50 AM »
Well, my Christmas present from my wife came in early today- the Robo Rule. 15 lbs, 3 oz, 3 oz top weight and 3" pin. Some of my stats would include the following:

Lefty Stroker
Average speed: 17.5-18.18 mph
Rev Rate: 224-237.5 rpm
PAP: 3 3/4, 7/8 up

I have the ability to change my axis rotation from a more up the back release to one with plenty of side roll. The other Track balls I have in my arsenal are listed in my profile. I'm looking to have this ball be a benchmark for heavy and possibly medium-heavy conditions. I usually don't like skid/snap looks on the lanes (already have that covered pretty well with a couple of other pieces in my bag), I guess I'm looking to have this ball handle a decent amount up front and still have decent energy at the back.

Plan on getting this drilled tomorrow afternoon- any help from the Track gurus would be greatly appreciated.

Matt

Matt,

Looking at your profile I actually like the layout you have listed for your Rule. Try that layout on the Robo just keep the MB a bit closer....more like 4 inches from PAP.

Let us know what you think of the ball!

Carl,

Hello! How are you? Thanks for the help. I went for the layout you suggested, didn't need a weighthole as he drilled a little deeper in the fingers and thumb to get the ball back into specs. I believe it put the pin under my middle finger. Took it out to the lanes at the pro shop that had just been freshly stripped and oiled prior to league action. Amazing continuous move from front to back on this ball. Don't get it to the dry too soon as it will hook/stop easily. Found a great line playing 16 at laydown out to about 6 at the breakpoint- took out some 8 pins with messengers from the deck. I only got the chance to bowl 2 games with it, but it's probably 3-4 boards stronger than my Animal. Should be able to handle heavy oil well.

I'll report more as I get more games on it.
