Hey guys, been looking at giving Track a shot. I have a Ult. Inferno which has been working well for me, but wanted to try either a Rule or Animal. My guess is the Animal is a stronger ball, but with a particle cover I'm wondering how long it may last (compared to the Rule). I hear stories about particle balls burning up, but have never owned one. What is the general life span of a particle ball, and has Track somehow fomulated a cover that lasts longer than the average particle cover?

I have had 2 solid particle balls and 1 particle pearl and I think with regular cleaning (at least once after every set of bowling with a specific ball cleaner made for particle balls) you can get most particle balls to react very well for 200-300 games. I've thrown at least 250 with my Eraser Pearl Particle and I still get a strong reaction out of that ball. I've only had my Animal a short time, putting 15 games on that and it's still a strong mover as well. The only one of the 3 that I felt died quickly in terms of movement was my Ebonite V2 Particle.

The Animal has been one of the best particle releases in the past few years for heavy oil...With the right drill pattern of course, but is one of the best oil pattern balls out right now. Personally, only the Rule, Ultimate Inferno, Goliath, and from what I hear the Shock are the only balls out right now that compare on super oil pound for pound..

Of course as a particle ball, the longer you use it, the weaker it will get, but people don't understand that it happens on every ball, not just particles...Drill it for a pattern you want to use it for, and don't throw it on anything else. I drilled mine for carry down when the lanes get tighter and moving right instead of left is a must, and it works well...

It lasted well over 150 plus games, then the shell finally seperated, but I have another one i'm waiting to drill..

Hey Spanky,

I'd say it varies too much on what you're bowling on. If you throw it on burned up lanes or beaten up old wood, it would only make sense that any ball would burn out on under this type of use.

However, if your house has new or relatively new synthetics, well maintained and treated, the ball can last you forever. I think this is why you'll hear so many different testimonials regarding ball life. Maintenance also plays a huge part in the life span of any ball. Just like car tires, city driving wears and tears harder on it than highway, so you'll still get variances in reports of tire life from different individuals.
