My Track Seminar Experience...
« on: April 06, 2005, 06:23:56 PM »
Wow!...is what comes to mind first.  Brian Pursel is a great speaker and entertaining as well (w/ his Tim Allen grunting impersonation).  It was VERY informative and great visuals (which you know I like a lot).  He showed us the different types of new particles and how they looked, how/why they break down and how to maintain or restore.

We then saw how a simple thumb hole can change the core and create an mb in a symmetrical block.  The ball was spun on a Determinator on film and we could see where the mb ended up after drilling.  I took my good friend bowl400 with me and even he was nodding and saying ah-has during the presentation.  He doesn't even drill..but I'm sure he understands it a lot better now.  I'll ask him to chime in maybe if he gets a chance.

The seminar was about better bowling, technique and understanding our current high tech balls and how to drill for your customers effectively.  Of course I bugged Brian to death on stuff asking questions repeatedly until he just started asking me when was I going to mention this or that...lol  He taught theory and not just for Track balls but for every ball.  Track info didn't even really come in till the end of the seminar.  This was truly about education and helping our proshops become more familiar with the current technology on the market today.

If any of you ever get the chance to attend one, PLEASE do yourself a favor and go.  If you like what we've tried to do here on this forum with education, you'll love this seminar.  This seminar reaffirmed my beliefs, ideals of Del and what he said he was going to do with Track when he took over.  Thank you Del for trying to educate and better our sport for everyone.  Thank you Brian and Mike, great job today!

Ditto!!!

I took a highschool kid when I first attended a Track seminar. He bowled and bowled and bowled, and most importantly learned (he was happy he got to skip a day of school). He used Del's theory on bowling with the hinge elbow and averaged 213 as a highschool freshman. Not too bad.

PS- I agree, they should come back to the NE Ohio are again soon.

as mr. rick so eloquently described, it was truly awe inspiring.  so much talent in the same room, presenters, organizers, and attendees.  some very big names in the industry and all very professional.  i have met and heard others at other presentations, no need to name names, but the arrogance is very apparent.  as someone who is not in the business so to speak (i can barely use a spinner and change finger grips on my own stuff), the information on core shapes and the positioning of mass bias was very interesting.  what i really appreciated was brian speaking about the concepts simply and without bringing track into the picture.  just good and solid information that would apply to most if not all of the manufacturers.  then we came to the stuff that really interested me.  the 6 steps to better bowling was presented in a way that i could finally understand.  i knew about them through mo pinel's publications but i could just never visualize them.  the videos that brian provided gave me just what i needed to finally understand.  then we went to the lanes (manteca's strike zone by the way, beautiful bowling center) and tried several conditions (long sport, short sport, 2004 abc masters, world team challenge (very tough), and ths).  we also had CATS on the two sport shot conditions.  we won't discuss how i did on them.  all in all a very inspiring experience (they even included coffee in the morning and lunch).  if you get a chance, do not miss out.
