Drilling an Arsenal Aggressive for BTM

I have an Arsenal Aggressive Particle X-out I want to drill for the BTM (48 foot flat oil, see http://www.bowlingthismonth.com/BTM/laneconditions.shtml).

The specs on the ball is 1.75" pin TW 2.25 oz.  

The specs on me: lefty, 300 rpm, 18 mph (roughly 16 at the pins, depending on the ball), 5.25 over/.75 up.

Any suggestions on how to drill this?

I am assuming you want it to be able to handle the longer pattern. I would drill it pin strong and the cg kicked out toward your PAP. I would say soemthing like a 4x2 would do the trick....but that is just what I am thinking, there may be better suggestions than me, and its 6 in the morn, so its quite early yet!

I'd also suggest pin under ring or slightly in a 5 o'clock position to this hole, and the CG at 45-60° from your PAP. Ball should roll early, yet with enough flare potential to make it through long oil.

What about 4x3 3/8?  Also, would you leave this OOB or knock down the surface with scotchbrite?

Yes, I think that drill will work as well as long as you keep the pin below the finger line. That will make the core shorter and allow it to start up a tisker sooner which will offset being a tisker further away from your PAP. As for the surface, I think that depends on the volume of oil. Unless it is thick, I would think the OOB surface would be ok....if it is faily heavy, then knock it down some.

Hey tjj,

This is a tough one.  I didn't get up early enough to go with my group to hit the BTM but they said it was flooded!  Couple of my guys can turn it up pretty well even they said it was tight.  However, I don't know what the left side is like but usually BTM is pretty fair to both sides.  

Not sure if the Aggressive is enough ball with your speed but we can try.  I'd go with a 3x2 with the pin 1.5-1.75 above mid line.  I'd also suggest sanding this to about 500 grit to help it create more friction.

The BJ and 40 framer weren't bad though if you plan on hitting that.  The shot starts off a little flat with clean backs but then they got reversed.  I started with the front 6 in the 40 framer until they broke down and I was just swinging the track area.  Guys with more speed and revs were able to play down 6-7 and just let the backends take over.

Suggestion:
Both at the BTM and for most true flat patterns, it seems, it appears (got to be clear about that) that one (at least I did) gets much more reaction playing an inside line than trying to go down the boards. I used a medium strong, light load particle drilled average and got extremely little reaction trying to go down the boards. playing between the 3rd and 4th arrow, (desperately) trying for a backend with a breakpoint around 12/13, I did get one. Inside was slightly less sensitive with maybe 1/2 - 1 board of area. Outside, there seemed to be no area.

Wished I had brought one of my VERY strong balls, but airlines & travel for the USBC made things tough. Maybe next year I'll ship balls separately like many people did this year.

I also suggest forget about drilling an AA; drill a VERY strong oil sucker for the BTM and bring some "hand", release consistency and speed control.

Although I have never thrown on that shot, I disagree.

The AA is a pretty strong ball if drilled accordingly. The one I had would out hook my Total Shock&Awe drilled 4x4. I think my AA was drilled 3x3 pin under. This ball is underestimated. I have a NIB one on the shelf.
