Track suggestions (replacing mutant cell)
« on: March 30, 2011, 11:05:17 PM »
My RG mutant cell (which is at 4000 abralon)  is starting to crack. I really like the ball but i've heard good things about track and it seems like the numbering system is very easy to read and understand. That being said i'm looking for a replacement for my mutant, a less aggressive ball, and then maybe if i could find one a 505c (doubting that i can find one since it's discontinued) I don't know my ball speed but i would say i'm slightly speed dominate but have a good amount of revs on the ball. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i also had 2 m/c one very dull and one shined --  now the way these balls worked the best for me was more down and in. if you are looking for a replacement, but less aggressive i would look at a 505T - it comes at 4k abralon which is where you had your m/c. another to consider is the 715C which specs are close the the m/c. if you want to look outside of Track, but still in the family, i also recommend the  Ebonite Gamebreaker.

Another ball that looks great and is still availible on ebay is the track project it is basically a 715c shell wrapped around the kenetic core should be a great ball other than that I really like the a series I have a guy I bowl with who is alot like your style speed dominate but still puts  hand in the ball he throws my 607a and loves it it is great for him he plays just out side second arrow and watches the ball sling back to the pocket awsome ball.

I had a mutant cell, I think the 715T drilled to roll a bit weaker(2000AB) will match up well. I cant see a 715C(pearl) match up good, it wont handle the oil as well.
The 505T drilled a bit more aggressively and sanded to 2000 would do the trick too!
I have both 715T and 505T, both are excellent balls and more consistent than the Mutant Cell.

I have drilled the same, 505T at 2000 and the 715T at 1000. Gives me a good look on all heavier to med hevy conditions between the two of them.
When both are at 2000, I see about 3-5 boards more out of the 715T. The 505T has been money for me on THS!! The 715T is a bit strong for THS IMHO after the first game. I prefer the 505T at 2000, it very smooth and predictable and reds the lane well, its also pretty versatile and carries from every angle!

Yeah, I am in agreement. I think if you looking to replace a Mutant Cell and want something that can give you that look but be more versatile for your game I would go with an aggressively drilled 505T. I have never found a ball that takes so well to surface and hand adjustments, and you will love the ability to throw it on so many different patterns. While I know you are looking to replace the Mutant, I highly recommend putting a fresh 4000 surface on it when you purchase it and give it a week before taking it down to 2000. I think you will find that you can use it a lot longer and with greater success.

So the 505t sounds like it will be the ball im looking for. Would a 607se overlap it though? i understand the 607 is a pearl where as the 505t is a solid but what is everyone's opinion on the 607ase? thank you all for all of your help

If you want to build an arsenal, look into the 607SE later, but I really suggest getting the 505T. The 607SE would be a bit stronger than your Black Widow Pearl but about 4-5 boards weaker than the 505T.

I agree with Mr. perfect. The 505T is a must have and the 607 should compliment. I personally didnt care for my 607 and sold it to a friend, who matched up better with it and it is scoring great for him. The 505T is a ball everyone should have!

the 607A SE  is not a pearl its a solid called se 6  gen 1  reactive , but then its polished  --- i would take the polish off if you  do get this ball, otherwise it may go too long. i have also read that layouts with pin under have a better reaction. i had a 607 but it didn't match up well with my game -- in defense of the ball i will say my layout was not correct, but my teammate wanted the ball so thats where it ended up and he really likes it. so definitely check with your pro shop on your layout and choose the correct one.  --- now the 505T--  what you have to consider comparing it to the m/c-- here are the differences. the rg on the m/c is 2.52  and the 505T is 2.48 so not to much of a diff there the 505 will start up a bit sooner, the diff on the m/c is 0.52  and the 505T is 0.40  this is biggest difference between the 2 balls  -- the higher the rg the more potential for flare.
