I need help
« on: February 15, 2004, 10:04:32 AM »
I need some help or a few suggestions. My house shot is oil to 28 feet polished from there.
 My arsenal consists of :
Triton TKO Contender drilled
4x2 extra hole 1" beyond PAP
 Avenger drilled
          4 1/2 x 3 1/2 no extra hole beyond PAP
EMB drilled
          3 3/8 x 5

The problem I am having sir, is  I am a medium speed , medium rev 90 degree axis, stand on 20 board throw across the 10. by specs , with only 28 feet of oil all of these balls with box finish should hook off the scale. Unless I'm sansding these balls with 500 grit paper before every league play they all suck. I am at a loss for what to do. I purchased all three of these balls in one shot for a arsenal and got 3 paper weights , any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Chris,

I have a few customers that also throw a lot of side turn and when they drag their thumb too long, the balls go forever on minimal oil.  If you feel you clear your thumb fairly quickly, then I'd have to disagree with the 28ft of oil.  Also, how far down is the buff?  What's the density of the oil used?  All these are major contributing factors to ball reaction.  Pls try and find out exactly what the pattern is from the mechanic and I'll be more then happy to try and help.  Thanks.

Hi Chris,

Sorry I wasn't more clear.  I'm wondering if you release your thumb faster then your fingers or do you tend to hang onto the ball and have some loft onto the lanes?  If you loft the ball onto the lane and you're throwing a 90 degree tilt, you may be dragging on the thumb too long which causes minimal revolutions.  Can you pls also tell me exactly how far your first oil line on the ball is showing up, I mean how far from fingers and thumb?  This data is relative in trying to assist you.  Thanks.

Rick,

After an explination, I can tell you I release my ball at the foul line. I dont have any loft to the ball at all.
As for my first oil line on the ball, it is 1 1/4" from my thumb , and 3 1/8 from my finger and the last oil line is 2 7/8 from my thumb, and 1 5/8 from my fingers.

Sorry if I'm bring a pain in the arse.

                         Thanks,
                            Chris

Hey Chris,

Thanks for the info but it does sound like your track is a little low but it really shouldn't matter if you're only on 28ft buffed to ?.  Were you able to confirm that pattern?  I have suspicions that it's longer and heavier then you think because your Contender or Avenger should react.  If it's heavier, then I'd have to recommend a softer ball or higher tech ball then you have now.  That's about the only suggestion I could make for you(Animal, Phenom).  I personally wouldn't have sold you these 3, there's no real heavy oil ball in that set-up.  Sorry....
