i need a recomendation for a ball .i like my rising alot ,its now my go to ball for the league shot ,but i need a BALL FOR WHEN THE RISING IS READY FOR BED. is there any thing with that same great back end for drier patterns. its good having a ball you kow what to expect from it on shot after shot ,now i need something for drier lanes that i can get the same look i get from the rising.

Temper would probably be ur best bet. Kinetic might be a bit to wild.

I just want to take a moment and say "can't we all just get along?"  The Rising is a much different ball than say a Power Machine.  The Rising will have less of a angular back end than with the recommended drilling.  People automatically assume just cuz you have a pin up ball, it's going to be sharper.  Not so with the Rising.  It's less of a ball with the pin up drilling.

A ball that's longer downlane is going to be more angular then the same ball with an earlier rolling drilling, there's no way around it. The pin up ball will have less room on backend the make it's move, thus it will be stronger and sharper on the backend.

Well, I will put it like this.. My Rising pin over ring finger/bridge really kicks on the back.. MB is maybe 1/2 inch away from thumb.. I think a step below a rising would be the best way to go.

Ok guys come down. I have only been drilling for about 4 months now so please don't jump on me if I am wrong. If you have a pin up layout with the massbias at 45 degrees it will snap off the dry. With a pin down layout it creates a smoother breakpoint because the massbias is closer to the VAL. The closer the mass bias is to your VAL it will not be jumpy. If he went with a pin up rising he would not be able to throw it in the later games because as soon as it hits friction it will hook. Just my .02 cents

i was bowling pretty bad last night so i decided to polish the rising. I cant use it on any high volume of oil and it was too strong for my house shot,so what the heck. I was pleased with the added length and suprised to find that i actually had to play deeper with it because the backend was so much stronger. so i dont know i may get another and drill it pin up and polish it and take this one back to 500 ,which really didnt help it in the oil ,so why have 2 that settles it this is my weaker ball search for heavy oiler is still on odyssey is still my strongest ball followed by my mean machine.

Thank you SIX!...haha

Okay, let the old man clarify.

1) pin up (above grip) vs pin down (below grip) = more length with more backend  WITH ALL THINGS BEING EQUAL in regards to pin and mb position to the bowler's PAP

Hey Too,

If you have the suggested layout on the rising, I say go with another rising with the pin up. Placing the pin up above the bridge gives the same length but the backend is smoother and cut down by atleast 3-4 boards. I did this so I wouldnt have to move in the third game when the suggested rising would scream or roll out on me. It helped me not have to move lines or try to fire the other rising.

Scoot, (I know what you meant and what your intentions were but...) you did not state where mb positioning was...this is why Dpat flagged you.  (he's my student and he understands everything as well as you do)

Carl and I have never diverted from pin and mb placement to a bowler's pap due to the crucialness of weights and imbalance.  We see it, we understand it and we live by it.

[/The further up you take the pin from the suggested layouts placement the weaker the backend gets. This is because the mb moves also. quote]

This is very true but you did not state it in your first statement....that's all I'm saying.

You guys are on the same page so to speak, just at different chapters....

Nothing has changed guys...please feel free to contact Carl or myself at Trackbowling.com  We're still here to help....we always have been, we always will be....
