Lower ball track
« on: October 23, 2006, 10:17:11 AM »
Rick,Carl,Clint and Trackers...
I have been throwing the asymmetrical stuff nearly every where I bowl and my balltrack has been way down on the ball and everyone said not to worry about it.
Last couple of weeks during the late leagues I used my old Triple hreat. The ball track is about where everything else is. My old PAP was always 4 7/8 over and 7/8 up. The Threat has a hole drilled 4 3/8 over and 0 up. I found the track after bowling and drew a line around the inside track next to thumb and fingers. I placed the ball on the spinner and moved the tape until it came to the center and it measured out to 3 1/2" over but stayed on the center grip line. I assume this is my new PAP. Before I drill up anything new I would like to know, based on the new PAP reading. What would be some good drill patterns for an arc drill. I may replace the Triple Threat, but maybe not asymmetrical.
thanks,

I am bringing this post back up it was hid down in the basement of the posts.
If the ball I tested for for the PAP location on the spinner because my track has moved lower in recent years. Most pro shops have the armadillo but really don't use them that much anymore. The ball I tested had the original hole on the old PAP which was 4 7/8 over but the new reading shows to be 3 1/2 over.
Is this my new PAP? I think it is but wanted to make sure.

Without seeing it in person, there are TONS of variables. However, I know from personal use, the closer you put the mass bias to the VAL, it lowers your track.....and, the further away you put it (like in your track area) the higher your track gets......balls with a high mass bias diff (Delta, etc) I can not place the mass bias left of my thumb in my track area as it will thump if I do so....

jody,

to get a TRUE reading use a polyester ball to find your PAP. Asymmetrical equipment "generally" lowers a bowler's track sometimes by as much as 2 inches.
