Machine.....
« on: March 22, 2006, 11:01:56 PM »
I know as ball releases go, The Machine seems to be so-so at best, thus far (sister ball to the Robo, and all); but, let me clue you in on what is turning out to be a Phenomenal ball. I like the Robo, shot 300, 838 with it; so, I was eager for the Machine.  I Now have 2 Machines, yes I pulled out the wallet. The ball just seems like controlled energy all the way down the lane.
1st Machine - 4 1/2x 3 1/4x 2 1/4 . This ball reads the midlane, and just keeps coming. It is so smooth in the transitions. Easy to read, and hits like a Track.
2nd Machine - 5 3/4 x 2 3/4 x 1 1/2 . Drilled this for a regional, but an absolute perfect piece. Very very smooth transitions. Strong arc on the back, and just seems like it is ready to pounce on the pins.
Both of them are out of the box finish, and like this they are perfectly suited for most medium conditions. However,I feel that I could do just about anything with these 2 balls with surface adjustments. Don't miss out on The Revolution that continues with The Machine!!

VERY well said!!!

The Machine is a special ball, one that everyone should have. It is extremely versatile.

If the surface of the machine were altered to handle heavy oil conditions, how would it compare to the robo rule?  Same/Better/worse?

DPat - The 1st machine with the higher pin gives me more angular move at the breakpoint and stronger backend motion(continuation). The 2nd is a little sooner and a little more arcy on the back (Ex. I start with # 2 on snappy backends - tames the over/under - then switch to #1 when I get carry down and and start leaving flat tens, move left a little more and open the lane up with #1).

bowl202 - Haven't really hit the surface with a strong abrasive in a heavy oil situation yet. With the touch of pearl in the cover, I still favor the ROBO on the heavy; however, with the large mass bias # on the Machine, it does not take a whole lot of friction to kick it up, so I would gather that it would perform pretty well on all but the oiliest of conditions with the right surface. They are definitely a great one two combination.

I only have 1 Machine due to messing around with the Robos as much as I have, but from what I have seen from others, the cover responds very well to surface adjustments (what Track doesn't) and is able to handle almost as much oil as a Robo when you hit it with a green scotchbrite (at least at my house).
