machine and mean machine?

I was just looking at ttacks web site and they show the mean machine as being stronger than the Machine.  I find this a little strange since the mean machine is a reactive pearl and the machine is particle.

Couls someone explain to me if Track made a mistake on there site.  The mean machine should handle less oil in it's box condition since it's a reactive pearl.  I mean how many reactive pearl balls are for true hevy oil?

they have different coverstocks..

Machine : Fang LS (particle)
Mean Machince : Fang LS Control (reactive)


i think the Mean Machine is just made as the Machine was but to take more oil with it's new coverstock

correct, since there is a change in the cover, along with the surface, the mean will cover more boards than the machine. The mean fits between the robo and the machine.

While the older pearl reactives were by far made for lower volumes of oil than their solid counterparts, modern pearl reactives are getting quite strong.

As far as a reactive pearl ball being designed for TRUE heavy oil, I don't think you'll find one.

Perhaps Track felt it should put the heavy oil label on this ball because hook sells better.  

Who buys these balls?  Uninformed bowlers that would hardly know the difference between a medium to heavy oil house shot and a pure flood.

I believe this week if I am not mistaken!

As for why this ball hooks more/earlier than the machine, it is due to the factory surface. The Mean comes dull, while the Machine is highly polished. Remember, most people say surface is most important as its the only thing that touches the lane....I bet if you dull a Machine down to the same grit as what the Mean is outr of box, the Machine would be earlier but smoother on the back compared to the Mean.

Plus Chi, the Nano Tread cover is brand new, first time being used on a ball...until we get it on another ball, who knows how much stronger this cover is than previous resin covers.

Chi, I really think you would like the Equation. I think that is your type of ball.

Clint is correct.

I have my Machine and Mean Machine both dulled at about 1000 grit and the M.M. goes a little longer but has a much stronger and a bit more angular backend than the Machine. I can play in deeper with the MM and still carry the corner pins, making my MM a bit more versatile than my Machine.

The cover on the Mean Machine is a solid/pearl blend. The hook rating is not totally based on the OOB finish....the pours in the surface of the Mean Machine are huge and plentiful. It is a different type reaction out of a reactive ball that I have ever seen....very strong, and even dull it has HUGE backend.

One more thing bud......with the technology today...pearl does not always equal length and backend. It is the coverstock's characteristics.
