Practicing tip for the summer...
« on: May 11, 2006, 08:08:38 AM »
Hey guys,

Another tip from your Prez for you to do over the summer.  For anyone who is working on a release (or those who just want to see their rotation angle).  Place a piece of white tape (bowlers tape or any white tape is fine) about an inch long or so directly above your fingers on the bridge and one directly beneath the thumb.

What this does is allow you to see your actual rotation and tilt angle.  Some may feel they are behind the ball but when you watch the wht tape rolling, it will tell you exactly how it is rolling.  This trick is a great visual aid for us, we may not be actually doing what we "feel" we are doing....good luck and have fun practicing.

Even though I don't throw Track now, I still love coming to this board for tips and info!  I'll try that one during tomorrow's practice session...thanks Rick!

Great tip. Another one is this....never try to bowl after being given demeral earlier in the day.(I just turned 50 and there is this "procedure" that was insisted upon by my doctor. Oh boy.) I just did and had a 161 and 169 the first two games. I managed to come to life in the third game with a 221 for a 551 series. Oh well, it's just a summer league and a 184 is my book so that's not too bad.

That is the main thing that freaks people out when they see themselves bowl on video for the first time, it shows that they aren't doing what it feels like to them that they are doing.

Are you sure that's the biggest reason people freak out watching themselves on video? I thought it would be..."is my behind really that big!" :-)

AFter that it might be..."am I really that clumsy looking?" :-)

Does this tip work on balls other than Track?

REgards,

Luckylefty
PS I have a couple of track balls coming in...but they don't have tape on them!

That's the one. And it's a big scope too, let me tell you. Just for kicks, since I was there, they decided to do the other end as well. Two for the price of one deal I guess. And I got to pay for this..."joy".

I don't remember the endoscopy. Hopefully it was two different scopes, but, I was on "great" drugs at the time.

Good tip! I'll try that one next.

I made very good experience with a white piece of 1" broad white masking tape from the side of my finger holes 2" over the PAP, and another 3" piece of tape across the PAP. Makes counting revolutions easy, and videotaping fom behind. Also, the axis migration towards the PSA is easy to watch.
