It may be 4.5 x 4

You're right Sean but he did say that the 4.5 would have hit the pin so he didn't want to do that per Brian's original message to me.  I think it's just a touch more but I would have preferred it to be a touch less then 4.5 and squeeze it under the ring for what Brian described he wanted.

Guys, when I suggest a layout, it doesn't have to be dead on.  It is a guideline that will offer a specific reaction but please consult with your driller to help you do what's best for you.  This is the another small problem with on-line drilling....

Rick,
I have to agree, given what he described above about being early with an arc.
I am sure it will still be great ball for him though. I was actually thinking that it may be more of a hook set type of reaction which can be very handy on tough shots IMHO. Would you agree?

I don't know Sean. According to Brian's stats, he has pretty high speed with power tweener revs so this may actually look pretty good for him.  Not sure how he matches up exactly in speed to rev ratio.  Guess we'll have to wait and see...

Without knowing your span to estimate the pin and MB locations or the coordinates of the pin and MB based off of grip center none of us can say for sure what it is.

This ball also has a pretty deep weight hole, my ring finger can go all the way down it, lol

The span is 4 1/2 to the ring and 4 11/16 to the middle.. hope this helps some because right now im dying, i'm afraid of how it's going to react..

But ASB-Joe said to me if i don't like the reaction (since he drilled it a little different) i can send it back and he'll drill another, but i really dont want to do that to him that's mean

Well i wanted this ball to be my HEAVY OIL ball, not my Medium/Medium-Heavy Oil ball. That's why i have an Action Packed! If the ball doesn't roll early and it hooks later, then how good can it possibly be for HEAVY OIL?

Brian,

I have my Mean drilled very similiar to that.

Not sure if your style...I read your profile. I fall in the higher end of tweener...my revrate is about 375 and my ball speed is 16.5 down the lane.

It is a med/heavy ball OOB....It is not quite enough to handle a flood. Adjust the surface......it will work on oil very well. If you want it as your Heavy oil ball I would go straight to 1000grit before I even try the ball. Try it at 1000 and see if that makes it hook enough.

I do agree that pin under like Rick suggested would have been a much better layout though.

Ok well here we go, this was my night with the Mean Machine...

Pattern Used on: Fresh just laid out 10x10 Pattern with oil all in the middle of the lane and dry outside about the 10 board

Layout used: http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c288/TheOne9110/HPIM0685.jpg

Reaction: First off i would like to thank Track for this awesome ball it hits like a TANK! Now the reaction... This ball really revs up nice but Doesn't set-up early. It sets up at about 45-50 feet down the lane, and comes back VERY HARD, kinda like a hook/set reaction. This ball is not very smooth at all, it's very angular (maybe the ball plan old can't be smooth, i dont know ). I really wanted to see a smoother reaction, more smoother arc?,  i was kind of dissapointed

I'm gonna see if i can contact BeansProShop (my driller), and ASB-Joe, and see what i can do. I'll update when i get more info

Brian,

Try adjusting the surface bud. That will tame down the breakpoint and smoothen the reaction a bit. Try the 1000grit I suggested earlier and see if it helps.

Goodluck,

Howdy
Just so everyone knows I didnt drill it that low or else it would have
went thru the pin and I never drill out the pin or touch it unless specifically
directed to and the customer realizes the possible warranty issues.   Had
I gone lower with the pin (below ring) I felt it would have been too hard
to remove enough thumb weight.

I suggest starting the surface at 1000 grit and working with that to start.

Thanks,
Joe

WOW! You are scaring me now brian!!! I got my from Joe too and it suppose to be 5 x 3 3/4, 1/2 in above ring. I think my slower speed(13-14 mph) will give it a smoother arc, I hope. I will recieve my somewhere next week.
