I am thinking about hot water bathing the ball, but may just use it as my dry lane ball.

If your oil density is not heavy or dense enough, the Mean can or sometimes will roll thru it very evenly almost giving the appearance of a large/heavy particle reaction (yet the cover is still reactive).
Nano was a larger pore reactive base/cover which did require a fair amount of oil in the front part of the lane in order for it to retain some energy for the backend motion we all seek.
I suggest trying it again on a heavier condition and see if you don't get the backend reaction again. It is always possible however that the ball may be a little oil soaked which may require some maintenance. Hope this helps explain some...

The ball seem to almost be skidding most of the way down the lane, which is saying a lots for me since I have a lots of forward roll in my go to release.

Tried hot water bath. Used last night, bowled after ladies league. No discernable difference. Not much oil left in the heads but some carry down. I will use it Tuesday on our fresh shot and see if the bath helped.

If you didnt have much much head oil the mean will never save any engery for the mids or backend. Now if you use it on heavy oil and still see nothing. I say use power wash and use it heavy on the ball. I cleaned my suggested rising with Legends cleaner in the shop the one night and it killed the backend on the suggested. It turned it into a pure rolling ball. However after about a month of not usinging it much other then to see the reaction coming from it. I got it back to working just as it did OOB. In fact I got the reaction back so well that it helped me and a buddy place 3rd in a local bakers tourny. Powerwash when used over time and enough used can and will change the overall hook of the ball and you will really see it in the backends. My suggested Rising is back to OOB strength. So if you really are seeing your MM not hooking use Powerwash.

I also use clean n dull to deep clean.
I used the meanie on a fresh shot Tuesday. The hot water bath worked. I used it the first game and then had to put it up. Went to my power machine and it worked excellent except for user error.

Last year on the Shark pattern it worked really well. Bowled a couple 240's with it. That was over the inside of fourth arrow. Played it really deep.

What honey? No that's not another new ball, I've had that one for months.
Just bought a used Kinetic and Temper, having the fingers plugged and redrilled for grips.
I have had the mean machine for about 9 months and adjusted the surface from 500 dull up to 4000 polished. For me it has been versatile and the cover responds well to surface changes.
