suggestions please
« on: December 16, 2013, 09:11:04 PM »
hey everyone, im a storm guy at heart, but i am looking for something around the IQ tour pearl that will go long and have a sharp backend. I am not going to be to picky about what company I choose from, but any help from anyone would be great. I throw about seventeen miles per hour, and put more then average revs on it. Hope to hear from you all out there.  thanks

As having thrown both an iq tour pearl and 400a, closest in terms of reaction would be the 400a. Although core numbers aren't close, reaction shape as well as length are pretty comparable. Can't go wrong with the #whiteball.

400a SE also the 505c2 if you go by numbers alone this ball doesn't seem like the match you are looking for.  Please believe me this ball is what you are asking for, I have one I love the reaction posted a ball review about it.  I have also seen multiple bowlers, high speed high revs to lower speed lower to low revs.  This is an investment so please try to do research and buy what is going to work for you, a bonus is if someone is rolling with it sometimes that helps however layout, and or oil pattern can make any ball look great or terrible.

Reading this post with interest as I was going to ask the same  question. But I am confused with some answers. Curt, are you saying the 400a and the IQ Pearl have the same reaction. If they do , than why own both. And Ronaldhjr, are you talking about the 400a or the 505c2 in your answer. Just curious.

Smer the original poster asked for a ball that is around the iq tour pearl. So i gave him the ball I thought that would fit the bill. Now I don't believe they have the same reaction, I just believe the 400a will give him that really clean through the front with a good backend. I think they will be close in terms of reaction as having thrown both, which I believe the original poster wanted.

Smer,
I was saying yes the 400A is good as well.
The 505c2 was the ball I was elaborating on.

Friend of mine, 220 avg guy, 2 hander, has iq tour pearl, 400a, and hyroad pearl.

400a is much cleaner thru fronts and way more angular in the back. Impressive really.

Then he gets the hyroad pearl and says it's even more than the 400a!!!

All are drilled pin up.

OK, I have the following:
o IQ Pearl (drilling out pin with middle finger CG kicked out, P2 hole),
o HY Road Pearl (Pin up in gripline CG kicked out, P3 hole)
o 400A (pin down under ring ringer CG kicked out a little, no weight hole)

I found the Hy-Road Pearl to match up much better for me than the IQ Pearl (but would like to drill a 2nd IQ Pearl pin up to give them a apples to apples look).

PM me in about a week and I will let you know how the 400A matches up as I just got it today for Christmas and have not thrown it yet.

BTW, a Totally Defiant might be worth looking at as it has one of the strongest backends around.

see attached BTM spreadsheet, there several balls on here from multiple brands that have strong backends.
strong backend doesnt always equal higher scores though.
your best best is to go to an experienced shop and seek the expert advice.
after that, practice and good fundamentals is what will bring your average up
