Ruff buff is hard to use. It is to inconsistant on the grit it finishes a ball at. Not saying it is not a good product, I find it workes great when you want a high level grit on the ball. The best way to get the MM back to box is to just use 1500 grit sandpaper.

yep, just 1500 grit sandpaper would bring it back to the oob finish. Although it looks dull, but the ball action is pretty much the same.

not really about the MM but I find pads (either Abralon or Mirlon/Scotchbride) work better than sanding paper as they are adapting the form of the ball....

I can get the fine ones at the Kragen much easier then the Home Depot and Walmart.
