Will try to sum this up quick. I bowled up to high school then stopped. Started back up when I was 30. I "knew" what to do but that had my avg in the 180's. Watched on here and picked up some knowledge about what was out there in the bowling world... Sent Rick a question about my release and lack of rotations on the ball. Received a dissertation back from him explaining, in his way that everyone can understand, that I was throwing knuckleballs vs. fastballs. Since then I don't leave him alone. He and Carl have helped me with layouts, ball selection and timing issues. All of this with not seeing me bowl in person. Rick has seen one video of me (and that was after the major lessons he provided). They have also earned my respect for their knowledge and with that if they think Track or whatever company has a good ball... I will consider that when I purchase next.  Overall they can take some credit for a 20 pin jump in my avg, and my first 3 700's, and have had 200+ avg ea of the last 2 years.

Thanks Guys.
Mike

I've had plenty of advice concerning choosing which ball for a particular condition, surface adjustments, etc. Rick and Carl have been very helpful throughout, and plenty of us on BR have benefited from their advice. Thanks!

Rick has been nothing but a godsend when I first started going to him a couple years ago.  I was having a lot of problems death gripping the ball and he was able to pinpoint what was wrong immediately after seeing my equipment.  Needless to say, I had him re-drill every single ball I had at the time.  Over time, I've gotten ball work done, gotten tons of advice, and a good number of lessons.  Rick has truly changed my game where I actually posted a healthy 17 pin jump in avg. I'm proud to call him a friend.

Carl, although I haven't met him in person, has given me tons of advice concerning balls, drillings, etc.  He's truly a great tag team partner for Rick.  I look forward to when I can meet you in person Carl!

John Jowdy and Jeri Edwards are current getting approximately $570 for 3 days of shared, NOT devoted, one-on-one instruction, in a class of 40 - 45 people?

Don't tell me how different that is from what you got. Tell me how much you paid Rick or Carl.

LOL...Aw man, you guys are in trouble...LOL

You'll all be receiving an invoice from Tag Team Coaching soon...  However, I anticipate the following response:

Tag Team Collections: Mr Dpat, when can we expect payment?

Dpat: Ummm...You can "expect" it anytime you like.....

Enjoyed every minute guys and glad to be of help.  Changing the way of coaching with our "Common Sense" approach....

To all whom it may concern,

I have had the pleasure of spending a couple of days on the lanes with Rick as well as countless hours on the phone. Through these conversations I have discovered that Rick has a profound ability to simplify what seems difficult. He does this through various analogies that you would not consider to be bowling related, but when he is done talking a light goes off in your head and it all makes total sense. His knowledge of cause and effect is quite extensive much of which is due to his analytical thought patterns, he is truly one of the wisest and most logical thinking people I have ever met. I feel that some of his best traits are that he looks at things from multiple prospectives and bases many of his teachings on common sense and human nature. For example while he was helping me on the lane he saw that I had thrown a few balls near perfect for what we were trying to accomplish. He came up to me and in affect said to slow down mentally cause human nature makes us want to do more and more, I thought to myself he is reading my mind, I was thinking "hey I threw a few really good shots lets see if I can do a little more and still execute". His methods to coaching are to work with what comes naturally and use those tendencies to achieve the most from your game without trying to turn you into one of the cookie cutter styles. I have terrible foot work in that my steps are quite short and abbreviated but he didn't even mention it on lane cause he saw that I am consistent with it and it works for me in my overall timing.
The main things that he wanted me to key on were:
1. A new address position that allows for a more relaxed hand and forearm due to placing more weight in my non bowling hand.
2. WAIT, WAIT, WAIT, turn. He noticed that when I turned the ball early which is often that I subconsciously knew that I was turning early and would stop my rotation to prevent overturn. When I do this my release angle is constant but it is more of a suitcase type of release cause I don't come around the ball any more after my thumb exits which causes my track to get very close to or thump the thumb. This stop of rotation also causes tension in my hand and forearm which slows down my release.
3. Just be myself don't try to do more than comes natural, stop thinking so much and just feel it.

Rick has also been a big help when asking for a comparison between balls whether they were Track products or other as well as suggestions for layout based on what I wanted the ball to do in relation to another ball that I already had. Each time the result was spot on.

Just wanted to add to my post and bump at the same time.
After spending a half a day on the lanes with Rick I knew his instruction was going to help but was unsure as to the degree. I had bowled 12 games in competition on sport shots and was averaging a measly 158 in the month prior to spending that day on the lanes with Rick. In the month (12 games) since I have been averaging 182 on those same conditions. I know that 182 is nothing special but IMHO it is a very big deal when you consider it is 24 pins higher than before Rick's help. I would definitely consider that a Tag Team Coaching success story.

Rick also gave me a timing analogy that helped me tremendously. His analogies make the technical side of modern equipment so easy to understand.

Rick helped me with my SPARE GAME which I struggled with for several months WITHOUT WATCHING ME BOWL.

To ALL the LEGION members, I picked and chose a few response here that I felt stood out with what I've tried to do here on BR (I hope I didn't offend anyone).  This will NEVER stop!...but we will be moving our help to our own site to help control bad posts and so on. You guys/gals have known that Carl and I have wanted that for a long time. We've always just wanted to help...it's about bowling and keeping this great sport of ours alive.

The Track Legion LIVES and it will be stronger than ever!
