Arsenal Question
« on: January 29, 2005, 11:27:43 AM »
I am thinking about getting the Rule GP2 and an Exception.  I already have a Rule which is drilled pin 3,5" from my PAP and is sitting next to ring finger.  What I want to know if i get the other two balls, should i drill them identical to my Rule.  I like the Rule but it has sometimes alot of problem making the corner and very often in frame 4 in game 2 it is unusable.

My PAP is 5 and 1/2 over and about 1" up and my speed is around 14 MPH but can play it up to 17MPH.  The league I play in is rather oily with fresh backends but breaks very quickly, for example last week I had a total of 12 strikes, 8 of them came in the first 12 frames.

looking forward to your respons

sTaurinn,

C4life is correct, it really depends on the reaction you are looking for. Where is the MB on your rule?

The MB is in the strong position.

What I am looking for is one ball that starts earlier then my Rule, and one to use when the heads break down and the Rule becomes unstable.  I have been using my Sheer Havoc polished but it is not quite doing the job.

From my own experience of drilling everything the same (pin under ring, cg in palm, mass bias in position 1-under/left of thumb) I would have to say drill them the same. The GP2 will go earlier due to the more aggressive cover, and the X will get you further down the lane. I have the Rule and X set up this way and they work exactly as you would want them too. My GP2 is on the way to add the last piece to the puzzle. The one GP2 I have is drilled "out of the ordinary" for me. It is VERY early, and will handle any of the heaviest oil I see.

This is the response I was hoping for.

My Rule gets really dirty and after only one month of use I feel it is starting to lose hook and power, if I clean it with Clean ’N Smooth which I have will I have the same or similar coverstock as OOB.  I have always used a clean paper towel and reactive cleaner to clean it after each use but in the house I play the machines are really dirty.

I REALLY prefer Clean N Dull over any of the other products in the market in general. It can be used on particles and reactives the same. Check it out!
