Mini Review: Arsenal Aggressive Particle
« on: February 09, 2005, 04:49:38 AM »
Ball: Drilled with the pin in my ring finger and CG stacked below. Basically 4 1/4x 4 1/4. I left the factory surface on the ball, and I have tweaked it a little as well. Ending statics were 1/4 finger and 1/4 positive side.

Lane Conditions: Various. I have not had a chance to try this ball on a sport pattern. WOOD lanes, 38ft heavy, buffed to 44, heavy oil in the middle and it tapers out to the gutter.

Line: I had several different lines I could play with this ball. I was able to play deep inside of 4th arrow......and it recovered nicely to the pocket. Once I changed the cover a bit (2000 grit sanded)it recovered even better. I squared up to the lane a bit and played straight up 8 board (this took a weaker release), and the ball absolutely SHINED from this angle.

Reaction: It rolls up a few ft sooner than the Arsenal Angular, and it more smooth on the backend. This is difficult to explain though, because as stated the Aggressive will open up the lane, but it is more of a skid/EXTREMELY strong arc, no snap.

Impact: Both this ball and the Angular hit extremely hard. That is basically becoming a definate with Track stuff. When it hits the pins it is alot like the Freakazoid for me......it hits the pins and (as with the angular as well) DOWN AND BACK. It keeps the pins low. The HIT on this and the angular are that of a highend ball----and then some.

Readability: For me this is a first ball out of the bag kind of ball. It reads the lanes early without overreaction, and is strong on the backend but not quite a SNAP. Perfect ball to see what the lanes are going to offer. Line up, throw it...if it does not get back then you know it is GP2 time. If it rolls up a little too soon for your liking, the Arsenal Angular will be perfect.

Overall: The PEAK Partical coverstock on this ball (and the Angular) is awesome. I do not think they could have matched core to cover better than they have with these balls.  It gives an early roll without overreaction, yet gives reactive type of backend. The Aggressive is a hair below SNAP, but for an aggressive particle coverstock, that is not usually offered. Track's recent coverstock changes have been awesome...the GOO, GOO LS, GOO Particle and now the PEAK. The Peak particle is a cover that is superior to what most other companies have on their highend equipment.

Track is changing the game!!!!

From your reviews, BJI reviews, and the specs, I almost wonder if 90% of the bowlers could drill and surface prep 2 Angulars and 2 Agrresives to handle most conditions up to dry lanes????

I am almost more impressed than I am by the Crunchtime/Xception and the Freak-a-Zoid/Rule combos.

Charlest,

You are definately correct. The Arsenal line can fill what most bowlers are looking for. The Aggressive is a hair below the heavy oil category though, even with surface prep.

I am not sure that I would drill an Angular for dry, I think the surface unless VERY polished could handle dry....it would more than likely roll up pretty quick.

Sorry for the confusion.I meant up to, but not including dry lanes. I'm sure, from what I've read so far, drilling and surface prep could allow the Angular to handle medium-light conditions.
