Hey guys,

Im in the hunt for a dry lane ball, and only 2, maybe 3 balls are close candidates for my arsenal.  I dont want to pay a load of cheese for a dry lane ball, that's why im trying to find it used. can anyone please help? my supplier didnt give me the free seed ball for the Dry Heat because I didnt mail him a bottle of wine...*stup!d me*

Im looking at the Dry Heat, Hex Darkside or a Track Magic...in this particular order(Magic is my last resort).

Time is winding down and in one month, i will be playing @ a big regional tournament on wood lanes that turn into the sahara desert after 3 games(24 game qualifier round)...

I would be VERY careful trying the Darkside for dry lanes. When this ball encounters dry----it moves like it was whacked with a baseball bat.

Thanks for your input!  Im currently arranging a transaction for a Darkside that's drilled 5x5.  And I will cancel this to look further for a DH...I have till tomorrow evening to decide(tuesday)

With surface adjustments to the Darkside, would it still over react in the dry?(maybe 2000 grit wet sand with controling polish???)

I cannot really answer the question about surface adjustment because I never changed the surface on mine. I imagine you could get a little more length, but I think it would still react very strong off of the dry. Remember one thing about this ball, I asked Del Warren about the surface at the clinic he runs and he told me it is a very light load particle. Some may see that out of it, but I see a definate reactive kind of reaction out it.

Hey Mr Track,

Out of the 3, I also think Aussie's correct even though I do like the Darkside as well, it's just not for dry.  Do you need me to hunt down a Dry Heat for you bud?  Even Aussie's pattern sounds good too if not even weaker..no wonder I get along with that guy...  Talk to you later..

Im starting to loose confidence in a darkside, even if i could change the surface.
And now im gaining more confidence in a Dry Heat...

Hopefully someone comes up with a used one...

Come on now.. The Blue Pearl Hammer was just the ball way back when.. It's too bad Ebonite got their hands on Hammer and trashed the name of the Pearl Hammer with that pancake crap weightblock. I still have my blue pearl sitting around and when I know that I am going to a toast shot, that is the first ball that goes into my bag for the trip.

My Darkside is my dry lane ball....

drilled pin centered over fingers...cg middle of grip.....and polished with Black Magic and Rejunvenator.  BUT have to keep it very clean and very polished or will definately start jumping too early.

My other day lane ball.....Urethane baby!!!! Would suggest 45 dollars for a Columbia Scout or a Groove Urethane over all three (and I am a Track Guy to the Max).  This is your best option for serious dry lane conditions...
