Mini Review on 5.0 and Delta 1 vs GP2s
« on: October 03, 2005, 01:48:38 AM »
Got the first round of my new equipment in Friday and had time to punch out a few of the new balls. I decided to match the GP2 I am killing em with the pin under the fingers, cg kicked out toward my PAP, mass bias ending near/on VAL, factory surface. Both the Delta 1 and 5.0 were drilled exactly like this, factory surface as well.

Stats: PAP 5 over 1/8 up, high speed (18) little tilt, track VERY high!

Condition: Classic League shot-not flat or Sport, and they are making a few changes to it, and they did not tell me exactly what the changes were, but the lanes played VERY simliar to usual.

GP2 handled the condition with ease, left a few flat 10s from the early roll from the strong mass bias. Was able to go inside, play 15 to 10 and have a super reaction with this ball.

Delta 1- Got down the lane just as well, really wanted to turn over on the backend even with the early roll. The Goo LS cover is a real winner in my books. Delta ended up being a few feet longer than the GP2 and had just a tisker more backend. I had to move 2 boards with my feet and 2 with my mark to the right to get the Delta to the hole.

5.0- Really expected this to go long an not turn over due to the amount of oil on this pattern, but I was VERY surprised. Standing where my Delta would strike all day, the 5.0 came up short almost every time...when I got soft it was ok, but normal shots were buckets, etc. I moved 2 right with my feet and 1 with my mark on the lane and WHAM....ball struck all day long. I can't recall having much/any success with any pearl ball on the Classic League pattern...EVER. But the 5.0 did everything I needed it to to get to the pocket. Although not my choice for the first ball out of the bag, I found a line with it!

Overall, I still LOVE my GP2s! GP2 is my go to ball and I will have 2-3-4-5 in my bags for as long as I can. However, when there justy isn't enough oil for the GP2, the Delta and then the 5.0 offer me some choices I didn't have too much of in the past.

I am getting my new Aggressive, Desert, and original Xception today along with another GP2. I will be drilling the Aggressive, Desert, and original X tonight, with the same drill, factory surface, but will not be able to throw them until Thursday (full house Monday-Tuesday, off Wednesday) I will give you some indications when I finally get these down the lanes as well.

Clint, great mini dude. Thanks for the news on the 5.0 below...

If you see more action with the 5.0 and the Original Xception, let me/us know!

Thanks a bunch,

You have too many balls to test with your just your style. I think some of them must be dispersed* to others so that we can offer a more insightful view as to how they react for other styles

*dispersed indicates no cost to me

You are right, I do go through too many balls, but it helps my customers see there is a difference between balls, not everything is the same. Some people in my area are still in the 80s...

DPat...last time I checked my PAP, it was only 5 over...and that was a few months ago...however, as I have noted here before, in the last few weeks my track has really come up, but with the business and everything, I am lucky to punch put a few balls here and there for myself, and then try to use them...
