Mini Review: X ception
« on: November 11, 2004, 04:39:40 PM »
Ball: Drilled with the pin below the ring finger and the MB in the #2 position on the drill chart to give the ball more angular of reaction. Surface was left with the NIB finish.

Lanes: 38ft buffed to 44ft. The oil is heavy in the middle and it tapers as it gets closer to the gutter. 4 board and out is usually OB.

Line: I was standing with my feet on 32 targeting 7 board down the lane. I found with this ball that I had an enormous amount of area.

Reaction: SKID/FLIP and I cannot stress the flip part of that enough. It moves more than anything on the backends that I remember ever throwing. It is extremely strong off of the breakpoint. When I tugged it into the oil it still finished strong.

Impact: If you have read my mini reviews before you know that I firmly believe that Track hits the pins harder than anything else. The X ception is a hair less than the Animal when it hits the pins.......but it is much less predictable. It throws the pins in a manner that you just have no idea where pins are going to go...I watched pins flip, fly and get blasted backwards.

Readability: You are not going to use this ball to read the lanes, atleast not with an angular layout. It does read the entire pattern though. You can see the skid, and you see it getting ready to flip when the ball hits the buffed area and then you see it just GO when it hits the fresh backends.

Overall: As I mentioned above 4 board is usually OB------or at the very least there is enough oil there that the ball will go far too long to carry the corners when you get it out there. I got one right off of my hand it went out to 1 board....it screamed back and crashed the pocket. The ball catches alot of people's attention going down the lane, and it catches all of their attention when it reaches the pocket. Many of you know how big a fan I am of the Animal, and I absolutely love the Rule, the Xception is a great compliment to those early rolling balls.

I definitely agree with you good buddy.  My Xception gives me that needed legnth cause of my slow ball speed and still opens up the backend.  For me to score as well as I did in Vegas, you know I had room...  You know how much I pratice or rather...don't...lol.
