This lefty struggled for quite a while a couple of years back on some of the slicker mediums some leagues were throwing out. Brunswick's Command Zone was skating all over on me, Track's Enforcer found the pocket reliably, but burned up and would rarely ever take all ten down with it. Tried Storm's El Nino Gold, but it too seemed to lack the traction to give me the pop I was looking for in the backends. Finally found success (and quite a bit of it at that) with AMF's Angle Extra--read the midlanes well, and exploded on the backends.
Alas, the Extra seems to be tiring out serving as my go-to ball, and I've been looking to give it some time off to visit a spa and receive some deep-pore cleaning to help bring it back to life. In it's stead, I've been eyeing two other Del Warren creations, Track's RevMaster and Phenom Unleashed.
The pro shop guru whose good advise coupled me with the Extra a couple of years ago is now advising me to choose the RevMaster (with an accompanying 3 3/8 x 3 3/8 stacked lev drilling), stating that, despite my deep-set beliefs that reactive pearls treat the lane like an ice skating rink in my hands, this ball reacts like more like a solid than a pearl. Further, he has assured me of today's more aggressive reactive pearl coverstocks, enabling them to better read the midlane.
I have no reason to doubt his knowledge...but yet I still find myself drawn to the Unleashed because of all the good I have heard of it--the great length and explosive backend it can provide. Also because of the recurring nightmares I have of yesteryear where I see reactive pearls leaving my hand only to slide uncontrolably downlane only to manage a meager cough of movement in the backends...
In all seriousness, I was actually looking at picking up the RevMaster before my Extra recently began to fade. Now, I'm a little scared to tread lightly on these slicker lane conditions--before, I knew that if the RevMaster couldn't quite cut it, I could fall back on the Extra. Now...I guess I'd rather make sure that I have a ball that can handle those slicker medium-type conditions that do not quite warrant the use of a true heavy oil ball (a la the Animal, Phenom, Fear Factor, etc).
So I was looking for a little advice/comments from some of you who might be familiar with either one or both of these balls. I am a higher speed (18-19 mph) stroker with only average revs.
I appreciate the time, gents.
