Just got my Animal re-drilled, but I won't get to throw until tomorrow or this weekend. What kind of reaction can I expect from this drilling? What type of line should I play?

Hey qstick,

It's a little difficult to say because we don't know your particulars(pap,rotation,tilt...etc). A particular layout can react differently for different people based on these factors.

I will try and make an educated guess based on your brief description of our your game that this will go fairly long with more an arcing motion on the backend. It also appears to be currently the strongest or one of the strongest balls in your arsenal.

The Animal is designed for med to heavy oil. However, depending upon the grit of finish on the coverstock, it can go anywhere from heavy oil (dull) to med lite (polished). The line you would play would vary from the combination of the coverstock to the amount of lane friction that would be available to you. Unfortunately this is vague but it is the best I can do based on the info given.

Thanks. I wish I had more info to give out. I dropped off a defective Velocity when I dropped off the Animal to be plugged and drilled, but it was sent back before I remembered to ask the guy to get my PAP and other info, so basically he just took my span/pitch measurements. I'll be taking another ball back in when he gets my replacement Velocity, and I'll make sure he tells me as much info as he can.

Hey q,

Do you know what the ending overstock is on the Animal? or what you plan on putting it at? The cover will help dictate how much oil you can handle.

Not real sure what the cover is at right now. I bought it used from D Pat, and it's in the same condition as he sent it (perhaps he can give me some insight).

I just bought a spinner, so I will have the ability to change the surface very soon (once I spend a little more time practicing on some other "non-important" balls).

If I had to guess, I would say it's OOB - it's polished, but not too glossy.

Based on that q, I'd say it would be more effective on a med/lite to med/med type condition. If you want however to make it a heavy oil ball, just toss it on your spinner and take that "Animal" to about 400-600 and it'll tackle the heavy stuff just fine. As chi and I have stated many times before, the Animal has one of the best and most versatile covers to date. It'll do whatever you place the coverstock at to do....hope this helps some.
