My view on the Track balls I have or had!
« on: January 03, 2006, 02:54:46 AM »
This is my view on the Track balls.  This is based on balls that I own or have owned.

PHENOM UNLEASHED:  First ball Track ball I bought.  Great ball for med/heavy oil.  Awesome back end and great hit.  Grade: A

HAVOC:  A lot stronger than advertised.  This ball for me had a very strong mid-lane and hit real good.  For the price this ball was a steal.  Grade: A

CRUNCH TIME:  Great ball for med to light oil for me.  This ball was all about backend.  I could send this ball way out and never worried about it coming back.  I really liked this ball.  For med to light oil this ball was a killer.  Grade: A+

XCEPTION (original):  This ball hit hard.  For me this ball was hard to control.  I just couldn't get consistant with it.  Grade: C

ANIMAL:  Excellent ball for med to heavy oil. Very versatile ball. If polished can be used on med oil.  If dulled can be used on a flood.  This ball ignored carrydown.  Great mid-lane strength.  Control of the break point was great with this ball.  Great ball for tough conditions.  The Animal flat out smashes the pins.  This is the hardest hitting ball I have ever owned.  Grade: A+++++

ARSENAL REACTIVE:  Great ball.  Awesome mid-lane and back end.  This ball can handle a good amount of oil.  This ball ignores carrydown.  The hits hard!  Grade: A+++

ARSENAL ANGULAR:  Very versatile ball.  I can use this ball on light to med/heavy.  Great ball for going coast to coast.  The cover on this ball is awesome.  Great ball for sport or tough type of conditions.  Carrydown; forget about it.  This ball eats carrydown for breakfast!  This ball hits and hits hard.  I would say this is the second hardest hitting ball I have ever owned.  Very forgiving ball.  Grade: A++++

SLASH:  Great benchmark ball.  This ball could have been called Smooth instead of slash.  Grade: B

DELTA 1:  Drive!  This ball drives very hard.  I have never seen backend continuation from a ball like this one has.  The Delta doesn't hit super hard like the rest of them but carry's real good when in the pocket.  The strong drive is a double edged sword for me.  When I miss light with this ball I tend to leave a lot of splits compared to other balls.  Grade: C+

HEAT:  Great ball for light oil.  Gets good length and has a big back end.  For me this ball didn't hit real hard.  Not even close to the angular with hit.  Grade: B

DESERT HEAT:  Dry lane ball!  This is a true dry lane ball.  What's great about this dry lane ball?  Well it's reactive.  It has a good core.  It hits very hard for a dry lane ball.  The desert heat has a smooth but strong arc to it.  Great ball for tournamnets or tough conditons.  This is a ball that every bowler should have in there bag.  Grade: A+

Well Track guys these are my opinions so far.

that's great chitown but the key words in this post are

FOR ME

Thus: this whole post basically turns into 'personal opinion' and isn't the most useful

I agree these are my opinions.  A ball that works for me may not work for you.  Every ball review in this forum is the same.  A lot fo reviews on the original xception were great.  For me this ball just didn't work well.  Same for the Delta 1.  So far this ball is hit or miss with me.  Others have had great success with it.

I thought that it was a good effort to be honest.

he has given his personal views on the balls, maybe people who like some of the same balls as he does, may think about purchasing one or more of the other balls he like that they dont have (hope that makes sense)

You can only really give personal opinions on the balls anyway.  The staff guys on here are never going to come out and say the balls bad points, so why is there opinions any more valid than his?

Good effort Chitown, perhaps more people could give there opinions on the track equipment that they have had?!?

Want to sell your Delta to me? I would love to give it a chance to get better grades.

I may do that.  I have one guy interested in one of them right now.  I told him I was going to give both of my Delta's a few more games to see if I get better with them.  If your truly interested send me a PM.  I have two and one is accounted for IF I sell them.  You can have the second one.  I'm not saying that I will get rid of them but right now there is a real good chance of me doing it.

I think this is untrue. I am not sure of alot of the other company's staff members, but the staff guys here on the Track Forum are pretty honest with their feelings on equipment. I have not thrown a Track ball in the last few years that I had to THINK of the positives of throwing that ball.....the balls have their positives shown to you when you throw them.

Track does not require we be here to talk about the equipment. We do this because we want to help people and because of our general love of the sport of bowling. Not every Track ball has been a HOME RUN.......but each ball they have released over the last few years has indeed had its purpose and they served their purpose very well.

I think one of the great things about track is that they offer very complete lines at different price levels and have a good mix of strong assymetricals, strong symetricals, and an awesome line of mid price equipment which is often more than enough to cover THS and very predictable for use on sport patterns.

I think Track makes awesome equipment.  This is why I throw mostly track except for one ball in my arsenal.

This is a website for ball reviews.  It's even called "ballreviews.com".  Is there any part of that that doesn't scream "for me"?

GP2, Decent oil ball with a good hit but, I thought the Animal with the same coverstock prep was alot better! I give it a B.

Animal, Should have never discontinued it! With the right coverstock prep, one of the best oil balls ever made! A+

Delta, I thought the ball was going to be alot better than it was! I thought the hit was lackluster at best though, it did cover some boards. C

Arsenal Reactive, Hit the ball out of the ballpark with this ball! Great hit, handles good amounts of oil, covers lots of boards, strong and continous backend. Does about what the Delta does but, a whole lot beter! A++

Arsenal Aggressive, great control and good oil handling. Not a ball for me to cover alot of boards unless there is alot of oil! Control is its game! A

Freak-A-Zoid, I am really surprised more folks have not liked this ball! Strong pearl ball with a punishing hit that is only rivaled by the Animal and the AR. A+

Xception, I didnt like it at first so, I am getting it plugged and re-drilled right now. I will have to report back later. My opinion so far, not a great hit for a Track ball. The ball can be a bit unpredictable. I will grade it later

Threat, B

Heat, B

Desert Heat, Not for a high tracker at all!!! If you are a high tracker, it will hit finger and thumb holes, guarenteed!! I give it an F-, This ball sucks!

chi: Good input. I know you're a hard core Track guy, and kudos for listing what you consider to be both the good and the bad.

My only experience with the current Track line is the Arsenal Aggressive. The only reason I have it is that I'm experimenting with new spans/pitches, and I was able to pick up an AR used (but in great shape). The ball is actually remarkable, and I find it meets your description.

Anyway, nice post.
