I am looking to build an arsenal on the cheap. I bought an Animal Untamed this spring and averaged a 185 for the last 2 months with it. It works really well for the medium lanes at my house. I am looking at a Crash because they are currently 54.95 right now for a dry ball. I guess it would look like this:
Heavy oil: Suggestion welcome
Heavy-medium-Animal Untamed ($59.95)
Medium-Hexplosion ($59.95)
Dry-Crash ($54.95)
Any suggestions on a cheap heavy oil ball or any other suggestions. All prices I listed are on a on-line store I deal with frequently.

Try Wildoctopusbowling.com, its one of their June specials. I am thinking of getting a Crash for when lanes get dry this winter. Any suggestions?

Depending on how you bowl, the Crash is really far from a dry lane ball. I actually saw it above the Hexplosion by quite a few boards. If you have to stay within those balls, expect the Hexplosion drilled weak to work good on dry. For the medium conditions I would get a Slash, which on ebay can be picked up pretty cheap.

For oil, since you are on a budget, I would suggest getting an Animal. They can be had pretty cheap as well. ALTHOUGH....with everything I have just said, spending the extra money on a Desert Heat and a Rule GP2 would definately work better.

Thanks for the advice Ex. I am on a budget, but there seem to be some pretty good deals out there right now. I may have to look at getting a Rule and a Slash to fill things out as well as something for dry lanes. Everything I read about the Crash I expected it to work pretty well on dry conditions. I just ordered one for 54 bucks, can anyone else let me know what to expect with the Crash.

Just drill it weak bud. My overall observations of the Crash were this: it is a good ball, and when the condition is right it will work very well. HOWEVER, it is very sensative to dry and to oil. Hit dry with it too quickly and it will jump, tug it in to the heavy stuff and it will 120ft

Hi jimmy,

I was able to use my Crash on some of the drier conditions but mine is extremely polished, probably coated it about 5-6 times and this most likely sealed the ball and pores. Typically, it would read the dry pretty quick but if you can find a good "working" Lustre King around, a good 10-20 minutes of polish will help seal the pores on it as well.
