Title: Need Drilling Advice For a 607A SE
Post by: Brickguy221 on August 04, 2011, 10:19:15 AM
I bought a Track 607A SE. I am trying to find out how others drilled theirs and their results/experience with this ball.
I would surely appreciate advice from those of you that have this ball and/or knowledge about this ball.
As for my style, I have revs a bit on the low side of medium and 15-16 mph speed and not mcuh hand. I play mostly play along the oil line. Just trying to figure what the best drilling for me would be. Lanes are Brunswick Pro Anvil Synthetic Lanes oiled with THS to 38'. Lane conditions medium-lite oil to medium-heavy, depending what day and time I bowl. Need this ball to work when my Ebonite Mission and Gamebreaker start to back off.
The ball came with a 3 1/2" Pin with 2 1/2 oz top weight. What layout would best fit my style?

My 6SE came in @ 15lb 4oz with 2.75 top, & 3.75 pin. Drilled 50 x 4.125 x 65 with P3 XH which puts the pin to the left of the center of the bridge. PAP 4.875> 0.5^, 15 mph low end tweener on 18 yo Pro Anvilane. Removed OOB & replaced with 2K polish to remove most of the over/under, but still needs dry to move. THS is High Street so some nights it is not usable until the second or third games. Prob the best THS ball I have ever owned. Agree 100% with Scott.

Scotts, I had forgotten all about that Topic you posted...I see that I also made a couple of posts in your topic.
A couple of questions here.....
...1. What is the pin size on that ball?
...2. On the P2 hole placement, I had heard that Mo revised the hole locations from the ones he shows on his web site but don't know that is a fact. Do you know?
The reason I am asking about your Pin size is because the drilling you have on that ball is almost identical to some of my favorite drillings on balls that have 2" to 2 1/2" Pins. What I am concerned about is if I were to drill my 607A SE with a 50* x 4 x 70* (my Mission) or 60* x 4 3/4 x 65* (my Gamebreaker) drilling, that the CG might be too far down in the thumb quadrant and creat thumb weight, do you think?
The BTM gave this ball a really good rating and the Stroker's drilling was close to what I like, but he had a 2" Pin.
I am not a knowledgeable drilling person at all, thus for my asking these questions.

The ball do flare alot. weaker pin 5-5½ and stronger massbias 30-45* without seeing you bowl, this is what i would use for this ball.

Brick--Answers below in red. Hope this helps but again I don't layout my stuff. I have input but ultimately it's the professional that knows my stats., lane conditions and what I am trying to attempt with the particular ball as far as layout. I use ball surface (tweak) more as a way to get the ball to do what I want.

Scotts & Weaser ...
Thanks for the information that you both furnished. I appreciate it a lot. Scoot whom I think Weaser may be familar with also replied to my inquiry with a very detailed reply in the Track Forum on the Track web site, so I think I now have enough information to move on and drill my 607, possibily within the next week or so.... Again guys, many thanks for your input.

Drilled this ball 50* x 4 x 65* with a P3 weight hole. I took most of the shine off the cover by sanding it cross hatched lightly with 2000 Grit Abralon Pad and polished back to a medium shine with Power House Polish, but not overly glossy like it came NIB and the ball worked great when I tried it in a 3 game Pot Bowling match amoung us old timers Thursday in my first time out with it. My average is 182 in one league and 183 in the other and I shot 626 with the 607A SE. That my not be good for the majority of you people but it is good for this 74 year old man and at this point I am extremely happy with this ball.
I have missed my 14# Lane 1 Blue Death ever since I sold it when I moved up to 14# balls in February, but no more as this 607A SE is like that Blue Death on steriods.
