I need a ball fast, for this weekend my bowling alley has change to a much oilier shot and can not use my Track Dry Heat or Thrash anymore (they used to be bone dry) Now I need a heavy oil ball but I like something that gets down the lane cleanly. should I start with the Animal or the Rule? I average 186, medium revs,RH, 16-17 mph.

Also 90% of the bowlers I go up against are using the Bunswick Ultimate Inferno but I am a Track guy and don't want to switch.

Hey Onformula,

If the other med tweeners can get up with the UI, then you can also with the Rule. It will be cleaner thru the fronts with a very strong backend (if drilled properly). The Animal starts up sooner but can also be used easily on what you're describing. Check out the videos on my thread "Rule vid", I also have a vid of the Animal for you to compare to. Hope this helps...and hope this was "fast enough" for you..

Very fast, Thank You Very Much! I am leaning toward the Animal and will pick up a rule later. Our league goes to Las Vegas every year and it is always a swap there (2-iches of oil laying in the gutter from end to end) and I think the Animal will be a big help there.

I like particle balls so I am worried about the rule being reactive.

The Rule will get down the lane further with a more pronounced backend. I'd recommend the Rule for med-heavy as long as the backends are clean. The Animal is a true Heavy oil ball. It's easily gets throug the heads and will start earlier than the Rule. The reaction of the Animal is a strong arc and will be great on heavy oil.

I'm sure you'll be happy with either ball, but since you prefer particle, go with the Animal for now. You can always get the Rule at a later time

Hey Onformula,

Please make sure you have your driller place the mass bias past your val for earlier roll. All of the strong mass bias balls can end up going too long if not drilled properly. Just a reminder...

Why would you make a statement like that when you don't know what his axis rotation and tilt are. Swinging the MB out toward your VAL makes the ball loose rotation and tilt faster and he may have little of both.

Hey Stormin1, here's a couple of reasons why I mentioned it...

If he's throwing a Thrash on Bone dry, fairly safe to say he doesn't have a lot of forward roll and or low tilt at 16-17 mph. That ball should hook at the arrows, even the Dry Heat hooked too much for most of us on "bone dry".

Secondly, even though placing the mb past val does cause a ball to lose axis rotation sooner, in the OOB condition I've drilled (for quite a few customers), this ball doesn't scream on heavy oil until you alter the surface some. I have a few guys who are throwing it OOB on the THS. The bigger problem back when guys were drilling this ball was that they were not placing the MB in a strong enough position which caused more problems and disappointment because it never hooked.

The Animal has quite a bit of built in length, a little more then most expected. That's what causes the avg med rev player to have to sand it on top of placing the mb in it's proper position for sooner roll. Hope this answers your question...

Sorry I forgot to mention that both balls are highly polished and have track delay reaction polish on them, I have now taken the trash to 800 grit but I still need a heavy oil ball.

Hey Onformula,

Sorry, wasn't inferring that you don't have any turn. More so the fact that even Excaliber who has very little to no tilt and a very high track had placed his mb on his Animal on/or past his val. I believe he has one sanded to about 600 for heavy oil and that one had a leveraged pin as well. Just wanted to communicate that having the ball react is better than "not" having it react. Again, even with the mb placed past your val, if it is only OOB(some were shiny) it won't just hook off the lane on heavy. It'll probably still require some lite sanding depending upon the amount of oil you have. Hope this helps explain..no insult intended.
