need help picking a ball

Took 4 years off of bowling or so because i dedicated most of my time to tennis.  I just decided to get back into bowling.  I was about a 180 average bowler..but now I want to dedicate myself to bowling and get the average up to about 200.

had a few wrist surgeries though so I throw medium speed with low revs (wrist isn't strong enough to put any crank on it)

what ball(s) could you suggest for me if I need some stuff that is going to hook?

We need to know some additional specifics. What lane conditions are you throwing on? Lane surface?

amf synthetic lanes
mostly medium oil..lanes are always oiled right before our leagues start

Medium Lanes I would say look at the Equation or the Arsenal Artillery

For mediums, the Artillery is tough to beat. Very versatile cover, the core and cover combo are very good.

clint..i have read a lot of your insight on the equipment and i appreciate the detail in which you have answered some of the questions on here.....i was wondering..what would the arsenal artillery give me that the equation doesn't?  I bought an equation a few weeks ago but for some reason i haven't had much luck with it.  i need something with greater overall hook..is that what the artillery would give me?

I think the reason you haven't had much luck with the Equation is because of your lower rev rate. You won't be able to get much hook out of polished balls. They will skid but not turn over enough. The Artillery will give you more hook. It will start to move sooner than the Equation and give you more hook overall. If you wanted more than that, I'd look at a Machine and maybe take the sheen off of the cover. I'd also drill it fairly aggressive.

Good response Rock.

As for the Artillery, it shares the same cover with the Equation (Goo LS) BUT, it is a slid, so it is not as hard and has more tread in oil. The core on the Artillery is also an earlier rolling core (same one as in the RevMaster from a few years back) and thus will help the ball start up earlier as well.

The early rolling nature of the Artillery will help combat more oil than the Equation and will help you with your lower rev rate....

You may also want to knock the shine off the Artillery....just drilled one last nite and the gentleman loves it....we knocked the shine off and BOOM....exactly what he wanted...he was able to play deep, but have an overall arc motion...the low rd and dulling of the cover makes the ball arc more and the core and cover are aggressive enough for him to play deep.....

Thanks Clint!! I've learned quite a bit from all the Track gurus!!

Also, wanted to mention that in addition to the Artillery and Machine, you could pick up an Inertia for a little bit less money. The thing I love about the Inertia is the mass bias technology in a mid price ball. The Inertia is a particle ball which will have good tread in oil and again, you could take the sheen/shine off of the cover.

Have you try the Mean Machine for med-heavy oil or a polish Mean Machine for med oil? This ball is very forgining and have a very strong bakend.

All balls do hook. It's about the turn of the wrist at your release and pin and mass bias locations/cg.

thanks everyone for your responses.  

I realize that I am limited for now with my weakened wrist but know I can find something that works a bit better than the equation.  All of the insight is greatly appreciated, I think that I will look into getting an Artillery within the next week, provided that I can find a good deal
