Need Track advice.
« on: September 24, 2005, 11:00:10 AM »
I have been thinking of getting a Delta 1, My problem is I have more speed then hand an at times have a hard time finding the pocket.  So my question is do u think this ball will match up well for me, an if so what drilling would you recommend?

I don't know about the delta but the arsenal reactive is a great ball for high speed bowlers.

Well, the first thing any of us need to know is how much oil you are bowling on. Then we can give you a rough idea about what ball you should look into.

If you are still throwing the Depth Charge as your profile says, I really believe you have a few options here. If you are bowling on a true HEAVY pattern, then you would want to look at a particle ball, first the GP2....hands down the best oil ball Track has made and possibly the best oil ball on the market currently. Right behind them are the Arsenal Aggressive and Blue Heat. Although a step down from each other and the GP2, they are just as good, just can't handle as much oil. The steps go GP2-Aggressive-Blue Heat. If you want a reactive ball, then you have 2 choices, either the Delta 1 or the Arsenal Reactive. From what I have seen with mine, they cover about the same amount of oil (although others have had different results) and its just a matter of where it covers those boards. The Arsenal Reactive has a lower RG, and thus moves earlier for me and the Delta, having the largest volume flipblock in the industry and a higher rg, gets down the lane better and flips harder as it has more energy at that point in the lane.

If you have a true HEAVY oil pattern, I vote for the GP2.

Hey bowling,

The GP2 is our strongest ball in heavy oil to date but the Delta is not far behind.  So long as you have some dry on the lane (not flooded 50ft), the Rule Delta 1 can offer you a stronger backend reaction in comparison.  I'd say even with your speed, the Rule Delta can be about 3-5 (or more) stronger than your Depth Charge.  If you can check with your ball driller as to what your pap (positive axis point) is, we can then assist you with a layout.  Thanks...

I can only echo what clint and Rick have already stated. If your speed dominates your rev rate then you will probably be better off with a GP2. DEFINATELY find out your PAP and if you can give us a good idea of the lane conditions you are bowling on.

Not really sure of the oil volume or pattern. Playing 2nd arrow the ball comes back with oil rings on it after every shot. But for me the ball just usually wont turn the corner sure if it the 1/2 synthetic, 1/2 wood lane, or that I throw alittle to hard for the revs I produce. I have tryed to slow down an when I do the ball moves better but very uncomfortable for me.  So I thought about getting a ball that will start up early.

I would have to stick with the GP2 for my suggestion.

The GP2 did enter my mind, I was just worried about it burning up.  What specs should I ask for, and what drilling would you suggest?

The GP2 will only burn for 2 reasons:
1. Not enough oil, which is when you should be using another ball anyhow
2. You drill it SUPER STRONG

If you make it super strong (pin 3 3/8 from pap-leverage and mass bias on your VAL with factory surface) you may be only able to use it on FLOODS. However, I and others have had success with the GP2 drilled with the pin 4 inches from PAP and mass bias left of thumb (about 6-7 inches from PAP). The mass bias that far away makes the ball rev late and helps it scoot through the heads easier.  Others may suggest a drill as well, but for myself and my customers, that drill has worked very well.

Hey Bowling, if you can get the Depth Charge to move some by slowing it down, the Rule Delta 1 should be more then enough to react.  The surface alone will grab the oil better and should hook fine off your amount of oil.

I'd suggest a 4.25x4.5-4.75 mb with the pin about 3+ above midline.  I want to keep the mass bias a little further back so you don't roll too early and this will help you hold the look of playing down and in.  Hope this helps...

i have high speed(19+) and low revs, and love my gp2. drilled to go a little longer for heavy outside oil(til i figured out how to play inside 10)even when i get fast(21+) it only barely comes up light, lots of 2s and 4. arsenal aggressive works great when the gp2 is hooking too much. havent thrown the delta or arsenal reactive yet.

I would like to thank everyone for the help.  Still torn between the delta an the gp2.  But it doesn't sound like i can go wrong with either ball.  I am really looking forward to trying Track.  Anyone have an pin length advice on ordering either of this 2 ball?
