GP2 or Arsenal Aggressive for a low rev player?
« on: October 07, 2005, 06:08:38 AM »
I’m bowling on a modified PBA pattern league with the patterns ranging from 38’ – 43’ in length. Anything outside of 12 is ‘out of bounds’ and changes either to the left or right, and everything inside of 16 is pretty dry. This can make it really hard to try and swing it, especially if you are a lower rev player like me. My Total Shock grabs too early off the dry, won’t pick up soon enough in the oil and my Sahara will skid if you hit ANY oil or snaps. I’m looking for something that I can move right and play in the oil with, you know, particle.

I’ve been looking between the GP2 and the Arsenal Aggressive.

I’m a medium-low rev player, around 15-16mph; my PAP is 4 1/2 – 5/8 up.

I consider my release pretty consistent; realistically I would say 8 out of 10 times I release the exact same way. My release is consistent enough to use Asymmetrical equipment and see a reaction difference between the two.

The GP2 is one of the top 2 best oil balls on the market today. The Gp2 can handle more oil than the aggressive for a few reasons. The GP2is a medium load particle vs the light load of particle in the Aggressive. Also, the mass bias on the GP2 can be moved to effect ball reaction on where you want it to hook, and the Aggressive does not have that feature as it is a symmetrical core.

jjweb,

The reason I asked was to see if asymmetrical would be an issue for you...and it does not seem like it would be.

The GP2 is much stronger than the Arsenal Aggressive. Do not be suprised when you see some good backend reaction even with the earlier roll The lower revs will not be an issue.

Gp2. I bought one of these and it is outhooked by almost every other ball I have. This is on a reasonable amount of oil. I know that my opinion of this ball is in the minority, but I think that this core and cover must really be drilled perfectly or you end up with a rolling turd. I haven't thrown the Aggressive, but I have a Havoc and that ball hooks a ton with a strong drill.

Hey jj,

To move right and play the oil with, I'd also go with the GP2 with the mb in an earlier rolling position.  This will help offset some of your reaction difficulties having lower revs.  Let us know if we can be of any further help to you, thanks.
